I think Spence does much better against Thurman then he does Porter. Porter's style is incredibly awkward and SPence, while talented, does not have that much experience. Porter also looks like he could take a hell of a punch. Thurman blasted him a few times and he held up.

this fight is a step back for Spence.
So who should Spence fight? Three fighters turned him down and he had to take this fight. After he wins this fight he's the mandatory to fight the winner of Brook vs. Vargas. He'll be fighting for two of the four belts in the welterweight division in March 2017. But you'll probably complain about that too.

which 3 fighters turned him down? and source it.

Spence could have fought a whole host of opponents better than Bundu, don't tell me you don't know any welterweights better than Bundu?

He is trying to get his shot at the IBF title, if he wants that shot he basically have to fight whoever the IBF orders him to fight for him Eliminator, he can't "Pick His Own Opponent". IBF go by their rankings and Bundu was the name that came up after the other 3 Rejected the fight

The opportunity for a title eliminator was offered to-and rejected by- Australia's Jeff Horn and U.S.-based contenders Lamont Peterson and Sammy Vazquez,
It’s likely that Errol Spence will have to move into the mandatory challenger position in order to force the hand of reigning welterweight titlist Kell Brook. The trick is finding a willing opponent to help get him to that point.

wasn't his last fight an eliminator?

Spence doesnt have to go the route of the IBF if they keep proposing him bums. He can fight better names and the financial clout and partnership with Haymon should get him the fights with other welter champs controlled by Haymon.

Anyway, all of this is irrelevant, it doesn't change the answer. This fight won't do anything for Spences standing among real fans.

Why would Spence turn down Bundu which would lead to a fight with either Vargas or Brook for two world titles. Are you serious or are you trolling?

By asking me to source it lets me know you have no idea about boxing. The IBF has sanctioned this bout as an eliminator. In order for this fight to be an eliminator the fighters ahead of Bundu would have had to informed the IBF they don't want the fight. If they didn't turn down the fight this fight wouldn't be sanctioned as an eliminator. Do you even know the rules?

I got new for you, none of the top guys are fighting Spence Jr unless they have to so YES, going the IBF route and getting your eliminator out of the way and putting yourself in position to get Kell Brook in the ring that likely the only way he will get the bigger names in the ring with him

"Financial Clout"? The man just turned 26 and only been pro for 4 years now, he is still working his way up in the Division, Financial Clout will come especially if he captures the IBF Title. I get it fans want to fast forward these guys careers and just want to throw them in with the best but name me someone at the top who is challenging Spence Jr but he is turning is down to fight Bundu?

Frankly, Spence should be getting pushed simply because he's already 26. These are his very best, peak years and they shouldn't be wasted on him getting small, 'prospect' fights.

I can understand staying busy and getting experience, because he's still not had many fights and started later, but he's shown he's already past this level, and they should really get him into that next level so as not to waste his best years fighting stiffs that don't really do much for him.

Do what you need to to get that title shot, but that should be all. Hopefully that's what these fights are about now rather than growing fights.

I'm clearly talking about the Haymon backing that Spence has. Haymon owns 2 of the 4 belt holders in the division, he could easily match Spence up with one of them.

And why do you think fighters are ducking SpencE?

If Vargas wins, there's no guarantee that Spence will get to fight him.

And Spence is already IBF mando, he fought the eliminator.

ANyway, like I said, the point of this thread isn't boxing politics but the fact that the Bundu win does nothing for Spence. It's a worse fight than Algieri, i.e. a step back. If you don't think it is then you must not know boxing.
