Comments Thread For: Thurman: One Win Won't Make Me Fill Mayweather's Shoes

There was talk ahead this past Saturday's fight between Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter that the winner would have a better claim to the division in the wake of the retirements of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

He is correct. Needs to at least beat Brook-Vargas winner or Garcia next.

I thought Canelo was Mayweathers replacement. Is the face of boxing, is the ppv king, fights the best. LMAO.

One win that could take Thurman to the next level...a win over Canelo Alvarez! That would do the trick!

Porter ran in most of the night like an amateur and found it difficult to tag Thurman who was always on the move but occasionally caught Porter with stiff punchers but my point is neither is anywhere near the league in which Floyd fought in.

Thurman, you ain't schit. You beat your first real credible opponent of your entire career. Even then, you had to rely on the biased judging to eek out a close decision. Spence trashes you, Bradley boxes you all over the ring, Brook makes you look foolish.

You are never filling Mayweather's shoes and don't duck the Porter rematch thun!!

How can you say it's his first credible opponent when you picked Guerrero to beat him?

My biggest criticism of Thurman was he would talk himself up then fight soft opposition. Now that he's got this W I just hope

                  1. No looking back. He got an 0 and he ain't afraid to let it go. He's a headliner now so fighters will be more willing to face him. No excuses.

                  2. Be more active. Fight 2-3x per year. Use those mandos to stay active.
