Comments Thread For: Porter: Fighting Me Will Be A Shock To Keith Thurman's System

NEW YORK Shawn Porter respects Keith Thurman, but believes he is more prepared to win their welterweight title fight Saturday night at Barclays Center. Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs) has fought a higher level of opposition overall than Thurman, particularly during the past 2 years. The Akron, Ohio, native's lone loss came against unbeaten IBF welterweight champ Kell Brook, who beat him by majority decision in August 2014. He also has recorded victories over three multiple-division title-holders in Adrien Broner, Paulie Malignaggi and Devon Alexander.

I hope Porter kicks his ass tonight. Thurman is one of the most insufferable boxers in the sport, today.

I keep seeing two scenarios - 1 where Porter smothers Thurman and takes away the space he needs to get his punches off. If Thurman can be backed up by Collazo and hurt to the body, and be backed up by Guerrero, Porter could do the same. 2 - a scenario where Thurman times Porters rushes and uses Porters aggression to walk him into power punches all night. Still done see a clear winner.

If Thurman is to make his case as the best welter, he needs to dominate Porter. No one has and I'm still not sold on Keith's capacity to endure a fighter with a steel will. Shawn by UD.

I can see Thurman catching Porter jumping in But am going with Porter to make it a very physical and uncomfortable fight for "One Time " .

Thurman likes to have space to do his work. Porter like to be right in there close. in my opinion if Thurman can handle the Porter pressure he's getting a knock out around the 8th rd.

The big problem no one is talking about is that Shawn eats a lot of leather on his way in.

Against guys with little to average power that works very well.

But we saw what happens when Porter tries that against a guy with some pop.

I personally thought Shawn beat Brook, but what was undeniable is that Kell repeatedly got Shawn's attention with shots as Porter came in.

It cost him a decision against Brook.

It will cost him his consciousness tonight.
