Comments Thread For: Arum: Thurman-Porter is Good Fight, Hope it Gets Good Rating

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is pleased that we are finally going to see the highly anticipated Keith Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) vs. Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs) bout tomorrow evening on CBS. The WBA welterweight title fight has seemingly been in the works for 9 months or longer but has been pushed back multiple times due to injuries and other factors.

If the Ratings doesn't comeback huge on the #1 Network in Prime Time then Boxing In General is in SERIOUS Trouble not just PBC

Just wondering what you consider huge ?

Because Thurman / Porter aren't crossover. I'm thinking 2-4 million

                I honestly don't know maybe 2 Million+ if possible

NBA Season is officially over, their is NO Competition for them to go head to head with that can effect ratings so we shall see how it does. I'm not expecting big numbers because I just think Boxing is DONE for now in the US. Mainstream media is no longer talking boxing because Mayweather and Pacquiao retired so right now the sport is below Golf and Hockey in the US

It already was below golf and hockey. That being said, 2 million viewers is a terrible rating for this fight. They need 4mil ++ there is almost no hype except us hardcore fans and it is a dam good fight.

I was listening to ESPN Radio the other day and they were going to play tape recorded interviews of Thurman and Porter but then said they were bumping them to the next day because Derrick Rose got traded and they were bringing in local guys to talk about that trade.

Consider that Canelo had well over a 2million average when he fought Kirkland on HBO with less than 2/3 the potential homes for the audience. This fight with so many more homes should double that

Well Haymon extended the olive branch to Arum, and the two settled outside of court so Arum dropped his lawsuit, they are talking and looking to work together so its now in his best interest to big up PBC.

Golden Boy and Oscar are pretty much getting screwed here, plus I heard Richard Shaefer is coming back, Arum is a shrewd businessman, I wouldn't be surprised if he works with Richard as well.

                    Leaving Oscar out to dry
