I've defended Canelo because I see him as a jr middleweight, with no obligation to move up, as long as big fighta are being made where he's comfortable. But if he fights Smith, 2016 will be a lost year for Canelo. A year that consisted of stay busy fights against Khn and Smith. Not acceptable. If Canelo is going to middleweight, he needs to fight GGG. If he's staying at jr middleweight, he needs to fight guys higher up the food chain.
I'm actually ok with Smith. He has a title, so he's fair game. It would be cool if Canelo actually went to the UK to face him, but that seems impossible. The issue begins with his post-Smith plans: he won't fight GGG until next September, and he probably won't be facing any Haymon fighters. I assume Canelo will win the WBO belt and then try to fight Cotto (WBO #3) again. Hopefully Canelo is required to fight Andrade (WBO #2). Either that, or he'll test the waters against Heiland/Rosado, maybe even Lemieux. Canelo is gonna become a twice-a-year fighter, which really sucks.

I'm not paying attention to any more Canelo fights until he steps in the ring with GGG.

Pacquiao vs Broner certainly has me interested, though.

    What makes GGG so precious?
He's the only guy in boxing that doesn't have to challenge himself.

Canelo is the A side just like Oscar was.

Since GGG is such a small MW like his stans claim,Canelo's catchweight should be easy for him.
Canelo never offered to fight GGG at any weight, let alone 158, which is what BHop accepted from Oscar.

You should try fixing your own idiotic comments rather than pissing around with other people's.

"Canelo doesn't need li'l g, he's still going to be a star and do massive PPV numbers whoever he fights ... blah blah"

How could Broner possibly surpass Canelo as a potential opponent ?
Because Manny said he isn't fighting above 150 and Canelo can't make that weight. Also, Broner fights at welterweight, can sell tickets, and would be an easy win even for this version of Manny(which is still light years ahead of Broner)

I can see it being Canelo Vs Smith.
I like Smith, i've followed his progress since day 1. It's a big ask for him against Canelo though.

I'd prefer to see Canelo against Jermall or Andrade.

If Canelo has 2 fights before the proposed Golovkin fight, it's maybe Smith at 155...then another fight at a higher catchweight, or maybe the full 160.

Lemeiux at 160 would be ok, but i don't see Lem being able to make a catchweight.

Wow, that's lame. If Canelo fights GGG in the fall of next year, you know he's only going to fight 2 times between now and then. And may even fight at 154 lbs. in his next fight? WTF? They need experience, they need to move up in weight. And 2 fights between now and then is pathetic. I was surprised to hear Anthony Joshua is already fighting again this weekend. He's been really active. That's what Canelo should be doing. He's young and can fight more often and needs the experience, but he's acting like he's a Mayweather super star already.

And I'll tell you guys the truth, I'd love to see Pacquiao vs Broner. Broner will get his ass beat worse than ever, I believe.
