They don't have a hard time finding solid opposition. They have a hard time looking for solid opposition. Brook won his belt and has fought no one, Hearn hasn't negotiated with any fighter of note, and they spent the last few years doing nothing apart from trying to get Khan in the ring. Brook is not a draw and hiding him from top competition has done nothing to reverse that. Now Hearn has to split a small pot where the fighters coming over are going to want a big chunk of said pot. Brook should have had more fights in America with at least a little higher competition and these pots would be bigger. Any way it looks like Hearn is finally on the right track, unfortunately the money might not be there for the Thurmans and Bradleys of the world, and they aren't even huge draws themselves, they just command larger splits then fighters like Vargas.

Rios and Bradley. Both said the money wasn't right. Vargas is getting $1.7 mil and Top rank gets $600,000. That's $2.3 million for one fighter. Bradley has a $2 mil mininum with Top Rank so that's $2.6 mil if you include the Top Rank pay off. They have tried to negotiate with other fighters but it cost much more to bring them over there. Vargas originally turned this fight down for $1.4 million. Hearn can't afford to keep paying these fighters to come over there to fight Brook. He doesn't sell out and sell PPV's like AJ. Hearn has to let him fight in America because all the top welters are in America.

So where's the extra 700k? Vargas gets 1.7m for taking his belt overseas. Brook is asked to take less, basically Saunders purse. Brook is much more popular than Saunders, and Ggg is much better known than Vargas and happy to take his 3 belts to the UK.

I like to see fighters go after that money but Brook acts like such an entitled princess sometimes. For a guy who has 1 good win, and did nothing for 2 years at a time when he could have should have been building popularity off that win, he seems to be expecting a lot.
That said, I think Vargas might be getting too much. Yes, it's expensive to fly your camp over to the UK but nearly 2 mill for a Brit PPV seems like a fat payday for Vargas, maybe too fat.
