Comments Thread For: Joe Smith's Promoter Eyes Adonis Stevenson, Big Names at 175

It's a whole new world for Joe Smith Jr. (22-1, 18KOs) after shocking the heavily favored and highly regarded Andrzej Fonfara this past weekend in front of a national audience on NBC. Coming in as a sizable underdog, Smith scored a stunning first round TKO. The native of Long Island, New York is now suddenly a player at light heavyweight.

Joe Smith Jr = Algieri 2.0

Gets a upset W goes on to face the Manny of his division ( Adonis ) probably takes a L gets fed to another established name ( Beterbiev) if he puts up a good effort will get a soft touch then get fed again to another prospect on the rise ( Bivol , Shabransky )

That's the way I see it for the real life Balboa

He should be in line for some good opportunities now.

That one round wasn't enough to get a solid feel for Smith as a real challenge to Stevenson (aside from power!). But I hope he gets a better pay day soon and then a chance to show his real talent against Superman.

Who are the big names at LHW? Ward, Stevenson and Kovalev. He'll have to weight his turn. Or he can jump the line by fighting and beating Beterbiev.

He should go and fight in New York first against a soft touch and build up his profile so that when he tries to make a decent fight he can get paid accordingly.
