Joe Smith will be Adonis Stevenson future opponent...

After he fights Thomas Williams, Adonis Stevenson will fight Joe Smith. Just an educated prediction..

I think Stevensons contract specifies that his opponents must be declared clinically dead before he fights them.

Not just yet; he still has the mandatory defense against Eleider Alvarez, before the WBC can set the eliminator for the formal new mandatory challenger.

Joe Smith Jr is likely a future opponent for Stevenson, but that fight is easily three fights away (vs Williams Jr, Alvarez, and the Kovalev/Ward winner for early next year).

Still, if things go the way I think, Joe Smith Jr is likely to have some fights to get his fully ready for the shot; Tommy Karpency/Chad Dawson (in a supporting spot on the coming Jacobs-Mora card in New York), the WBC final eliminator against fellow New Yorker Marcus Browne (on a show to close out the year/open next year in New York), a last style check by Spring 2016 (to prep for whomever wins the unification fights), and the a shot at the light heavyweight title come Summer 2017.

Depending on the timing of everything, he may not get that style check.
