You have $900,000,000 to takeover boxing, how do you attack?

Starting number based on the amount that Haymon supposedly secured from Waddell and Reed to start his very own version of UFC in boxing.

Would you have done things differently? Gone for a completely different angle, or tried basically to have done what Haymon did/is doing?

I think i would have gone down the santioning org route. Using the money to get into one of the orgs, and help them to dominate the field. Create a situation where you are they only relevant title. From there... $$Profit$$

    Easy right?

Buy out the sanctioning bodies, then try to create a UFC model. A UFC model cannot work with 4 belts per division

I think the key to it would be the talent. You need a critical mass of talent via any means necessary. So I think you'd go about it more or less how Haymon is for the early stages. This plan would for sure take a decade or longer to make happen so you just need to structurally setup things at this stage. And I think being an advisor/manager would be a more effective means of gathering talent via your own deals plus via alliances with promoters. I think Haymon is also hoarding TV time right now which is gonna make young fighters steer more towards PBC in the future. Once you have the appeal of HBO right now it's pretty much game, set and match.

I'm fairly certain that the PBC plan isn't trying to copy UFC's. Anyway, I think Haymon has the right idea but the execution hasn't been exactly perfect. I'm not sure what I would have done different because I don't think we can fully see that his plan is. But certainly buying airtime all over in an effort to market your brand and your fighters is a good start. I do question the matchmaking but even that has improved.

I would pay myself 450,000,000 to fight my older brother and pay him the other 450,000,000 and cash out.

I wouldn't bother. Boxing just isn't that popular. You can throw billions of dollars at boxing but at the end of the day it's still boxing and people have moved on to other forms of entertainment.

Assuming you took the loan out specifically to takeover boxing though...

I reckon PBC have definitely tried to copy aspects of the UFC model, though i agree there are differences

                Yep.

I think underestimate the amount of control that you could excersize if you had ownership of the only title that the fans and media recognise as legit. From there you could extend your influence in different ways if you want, but the key is being the kingmaker

I don't know if it's the UFC model as much as it's WWE but I agree, some aspects are similar.

I don't think we can really see what Haymon's end game is. But I'm optimistic.
