I suppose he could have granted him a second shot right away, but when you dominate and finish your opponent (especially someone thought to be unstoppable like Big George was back then), you can't really fault them for not doing so. Knocking your opponent out doesn't really demand a rematch like the way having a close fight would of.

And Ali just fought Frazier the fight before Foreman and Norton two fights prior to that. He had his "easy" fight in Chuck Wepner right after Foreman followed by Ron Lyle who was obviously no push over himself.

OP made this thread for shock value, nothing more. Obviously an ignorant troll. We would be so lucky if a modern day fighter fought the opponents that he did. Instead we have guys that need 2-5 years to take on one challenge.

The sour g****s or rather the hate in you is oozing out, it is beyond pathetic. Which one is it, are we talking about Ali the boxer or Ali the racist that you sorely referred to him as in your responses to other comments. Ali was a controversial figure without question and sure he had some bad moments in judgment especially with his alliance with the crooked figures of Islam but Ali's finer moments far outweighed his bad ones and it is sad that the hate in you won't let you see that.

Now to Ali the boxer, you conveniently left out the actual fight and here ****ing your heads against the wall clamoring about what Foreman was going to do in a rematch. That bias is so great you can't even take some time to talk about what happened in the actual fight and how that would have been different in the rematch. Ali basically took Foreman's heart and soul in that fight and endured tremendous amounts of punishment and went on to knock Foreman out despite all the odds against him. People were already talking about Ali's death at the time due to Foreman's imposing and killer mentality at the time. That feat still hasn't been replicated since when you consider the overwhelming odds, his absence from boxing and he was out of his prime at the time.

Rematch wasn't really warranted considering the way Ali ended the fight and while it might have been to difficult to duplicate, who is to say Ali can't win a decision having already experienced what Foreman brings to the table. The element of surprise is no longer an issue. As for him being the greatest, whether he proclaimed it or it was bestowed on him, the vast majority consider him just that, his resume suggest that, his character suggest that and if you poll boxing audience today, the majority will agree he is. If the majority agrees, isn't that how something is affirmed if so, then what is the problem. Just put the hate aside and appreciate the man for the fine boxer he was and the greatest fight albeit 30 years or so ago still being talked about till today. Whatever you feel about his character doesn't take away from the transcending fighter that he was in his time.

Foreman would have never beaten Ali, not untill Ali was old enough like against Holmes and Berbick. Ali destroyed him mentally and boxed him silly. Foreman did nothing that fight aside from landing some body shots while Ali was laying on the ropes. Whenever they weren't doing that Ali was 1-2ing George's head all around the ring, he was such a superior boxer and made Foreman looked like a wild, plodding tough man contestant.
