Neither, but like both. I usually root for both too, so don't know who I'll be rooting for in Nov. Ward probably, but it'll be a bit like when Floyd fought Cotto, as I'm also a fan of both of those, and when they fought eachother, all I really wanted was to see Cotto hold his own (which he did) as the outcome was to be expected.

Anyway, to the OP. I'm black and I'm a big Kovalev fan ever since he made such easy work of B-Hop. Clearly remember Lederman's "9 rounds to nothin, Sergey Kovalev!"

Race has nothing to do with who I specifically like. Just so happens that the majority of fighters who actually BOX are black. But I like BJ Saunders, JM Marquez, Tyson Fury, Canelo, Sergio Martinez, Steve Collins, etc. I like boxers, not sluggers.

do you ever think to mind your own business and stop trying to get "brownie" points by being so PC?
LOL, brownie points from who? Is the thought of being objective that foreign to you?
This is an internet forum remember, we don't actually know each other so it doesn't matter if people like me or not.

BTW, maybe you should PM your race baiting messages if you don't want everyone else to read and comment on them.......

I'm late to the party but thank God this fight is signed. Props to both guys, I'm rooting for Ward. This is a fight worth actually buying.

But since the racial aspect of the sport comes up often, I thought I'd do this little survey.

For myself, I am sure I fit the stereotype. I am white and I like Kovalev in the ring and out of the ring. I don't like Ward in the ring, but I think he's pretty cool outside of the ring, although I saw on a video where he claimed Mayweather invented the jab to the body. WTF?

                Anyway, just curious.
I like Kovalev as a boxer. I heard that he was a bit racist, and some of his jabs thrown at Stevenson seems to back that up. His trainer however is black, and I'd like to think that any racist views that Kovalev may have had probably came from being raised in Eastern Europe, where there aren't many blacks period, but there are an abundance of white supremacy groups, and ideologies that trickle into the local populations. I look forward to Kovalev's fights. I was high on Andre Ward when he was younger. I cooled off on him as he settled into his career and I saw that he didn't have much power. He is very technically skilled, and one of the best pound for pound fighters today. That being said, I don't really enjoy watching his fights. He doesn't usually show much power, and ends up either mugging, or outboxing his opponents in workmanlike affairs that aren't close at all. Between the two fighters, I prefer to watch Kovalev. I just wish he would fight some of the other opponents out there. 175 is too thick with talent for him to be fighting Pascal twice, when the first fight wasn't close.

This is a weird thread But I am white and from the USA, I like both guys but I'm a far bigger fan of Ward(nothing to do with both Ward being from the USA.. I used to think Ward would shine in this match, but..

The time off i feel has been terrible for him, little things seem to be gone that might not be associated with rust, I think Kovalev is got him at the right time and could even win easy, I hope that I am incorrect with my feelings of that

It's crazy, but for a long time i used to see Ward like a white man, and today i can't see it like a black man.

                      Well said.

I also like Kovalev more as a boxer. I love both fighers.

Ward is local to the bay, a humble guy, a God fearning man, and pure class. And a master boxer at that.

Kovalev is a tough as nails bloodthirsty KO artist who is also a master boxer.

                      Love both guys.

I stand firm that Kovalev stops Ward, but that doesn't mean I dislike Ward in any way, that's just me being an unbiased boxing fan.
