He wasn't that bad. Just not in Ward's class. Anyway, if everyone doesn't have a chance right out of the gate, who will be fighting 5 years from now? Barrera/Morales 23? I don't want to see that crap....
How do these weak amateurs make it on HBO??

people missed the question i asked... all i was asking how do these amateurs get the oppurtunity to fight when they are completely outclassed ... how do they get picked ? was my first question... then my second was why dont they pull an upset when they finally have a chance to fight on hbo or something ...Comment

Well both were undefeated and on the undercard of a not-so-major fight. Its not that big of a deal. now if both were like 12-16 than ok, but Ward is an Olympian with a good amateur background.Originally posted by Tyrantpeople missed the question i asked... all i was asking how do these amateurs get the oppurtunity to fight when they are completely outclassed ... how do they get picked ? was my first question... then my second was why dont they pull an upset when they finally have a chance to fight on hbo or something ...Comment

I actually sort of agree with this guy. So many of the fighters today have padded records. On the way up they fight a whole lot of tomato cans. What I would like to see is ward fight a tough guy who can fight back and might have a chance to beat him. I dont mean putting him in with a top 10 or 15 guy just yet but maybe put him in with an undefeated European or Mexican prospect or something so this kid learns. He was fighting tougher opponents in the amateurs and now that he is getting paid to fight he gets to fight less talented guys. To me there is something wrong with that.Comment
