Comments Thread For: WBC: Crolla, Linares Have Agreed To Face Zlaticanin Next

The WBC Board of Governors wishes to report the status of the lightweight division. Early in the year, Jorge Linares reached an agreement to fight Dejan Zlaticanin to comply with his mandatory title defense, but unfortunately Linares sustained an injury to his right hand. The WBC voted in favor of placing Linares as Champion in Recess and accepted the request by promoter DiBella Entertainment to sanction No. 1 ranked Zlaticanin vs No. 2 ranked Emiliano Marsili for the WBC lightweight championship.

This just means winner will vacate and not face Dejan.

Linares or Crolla both beat Zlaticanin comfortably - the guy's pretty average. He was lucky to beat a burnt out Burns which says all anyone needs to know about his level.

I'm liking Crolla's recent run. Perez, Barosso and Linares are good fights.

Linares is a tough fight, but winnable for Crolla IMO. Zlaticanin for the winner. Flannagan needs to look elsewhere than Crolla now it appears.

The winner has no obligation to fight him. They'd just ditch the WBC and walk away still a (WBA) world champion. In Crolla's case, I wouldn't even be mad because of the recent Froch-esque run he's enjoying. Linares would have a bit more to answer for

He has some losses, I like that in a way. They tend to toughen a guy up better than a bunch of soft touches. Nobody wants Flanagan? Dejan vs Flanagan?
