That was an exhibition with specific mixed rules, not a boxing match between one of the greatest boxers ever and someone who's never had a pro boxing match before.

McGregor is ducking TBE! Let hope he doesn't duck for 5 years like #48 did.

I will watch it, but definitely won't pay for it. This is what sport bars are for.

I realize a lot of people and a lot of journalists don't understand how businessmen think. I keep hearing statements like "these guys are only doing this for publicity." Which is nonsense. Floyd and Conor are obviously trying to turn the publicity into actual dollars. A fight between the two would generate more money than any boxing match or MMA fight right now. Floyd is more of a businessman than a fighter nowadays and I don't blame him. He's almost 40 and has already won 12 world titles. There is not much else to do for him. And Conor has said for a long time that he plans on getting out of the game young. So of course he's going to go where the money is.

Both guys know this fight is a joke but they aren't thinking about having an actual contest, they're thinking about having a huge money making event.

I think the main target audience for that fight was boxing/mma casuals.

The thing with a lot of casuals however, is they jump on what ever bandwagon is going at the time. The buzz around McGregor (to casuals at least) could end after a couple of defeats.

It's a realistic notion that he could lose to Diaz again, or dos Anjos if that fight is ever re-scheduled. If so, the appeal of a fight with Mayweather is then lost on any casual fans..as they've already moved onto the next 'big thing'. For the most part, i'd expect anyhow.

The window for a fight, if there ever was one, may soon shorten.

..... but yea, a pointless, silly, fight.

I don't think it will ever happen, because McGregor got Nate problems.
No doubt. How does he step to Floyd when he can't outbox Diaz?

I can see Nate putting this whole thing to bed.
