Comments Thread For: "Fighting Words" - Provodnikov's Big Deal Was Bigger For Andrade

by David P. Greisman - Demetrius Andrade wasn't in the starring role on Showtime this past Saturday night. He didn't need to be. What was important was that he was there at all. It was a second chance, and he needed to make the most of it. This wasn't...

Banner Promotions leveraging Ruslan Provodnikov to move their entire operation to Showtime worked out better than anyone could've expected; Andrade has always been a blue chip prospect, and him fighting in the land of the junior middleweights gives Banner more opportunities to do business. You add that Willie Monroe Jr showed himself to be solid at 160 (a division where Showtime/Haymon aren't all that deep) and you've got 5-6 fighters that Showtime should have interest in (Provodnikov is going to get at least one more shot to see what type of fight he has left. Chris Algieri is still a TV friendly fighter.)

As an Andrade fan, I hope he gets another fight in while he waits for Charlo-Hatley to sort itself out. He shouldn't be sitting on the sideline. He's only fought once in 2014, 2015, and 2016 each.

Algieri-Prov II makes sense right now.

Would like to see him stay active as well, but not a lot of options for him atm at least as far as a top 10 guy is concerned.

Even when Andrade had a title nobody wanted any.

Rigo and Andrade have a hard time getting fights.

Social media is a powerful tool. To Andrade & Banner Promotions, use it...shame these fighters into taking a fight against you.

Maybe not a top 10 guy, but how about Trout or one of the Jackson brothers in the interim?

Yeah, it does; depending on how things shake out with Andrade and Monroe Jr (him fighting Liam Smith, if the Alvarez fight doesn't manifest for Smith, makes sense for everyone), that may end up being the fight that Banner Promotions features their next SHO Championship Boxing date with.

(likely on the East Coast, but not sure if they could add enough to it for a big stage in New York, where Algieri has managed to have all but one of his fights):

                    Andrade-Soro
                    Algieri-Provodnikov II
                    Heather Hardy's TV debut
