Jose Benavidez is a fighter I don't know a lot about. He is young and has put together a very good record with 24 wins out of 24 fights, with 16 knockouts. In December 2014 he won the interim WBA Super Lightweight title and then defended that title in May 2015. However he appears to move up and down weight divisions a lot and this led to him missing out on a vacant title shot, or being installed as the full WBA champion. I'd like to know more about him. His next fight appears to be at Super Welterweight.
Can anyone tell me more about Jose Benavidez?

If my memory serves me right he was in litigation with the WBA as he was to fight for the full title instead of Adrien Broner according to Benavidez camp -- I remember Dan Rafael wrote a piece and caught a lot heat from Broner for that.
http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...ld-title-oct-3"Section C, Rule 28 provides that the WBA's championship committee may elect to elevate the interim champion or will generally order the two highest ranked available boxers to compete for the championship," Whitman wrote. "Mr. Benavidez is the highest ranked [junior welterweight] boxer, and he rightfully should be competing for the vacant championship.
After that Benavidez fell off the map.Comment

Tall frame that when he is fit is thin so he is probably in the process of coming down in weight, plagued with hand injuries I believe.
His little brother is making some waves.Comment
