Comments Thread For: Warren: Kell Brook Rejected 600K Plus Upside For Liam Smith

Liam Smith did what he had to do with his brutal demolition of Predrag Radosevic in Liverpool last weekend. The man from Montenegro with one previous defeat on his card didn't get a chance to show resistance, but the bout served its purpose and kept Beefy busy.

Oh, give it a rest, Frank. No-one's interested in Liam Smith v Kell Brook, the damn fight makes zero sense. Brook's already got a nailed-on unification with Jessie Vargas in the works. After that he'll probably target one of the other champions at welterweight. You know, the division he actually fights in. Sounds sad to say, but Smith is gonna be fed bum after bum under Warren's tutelage. Frank's completely lost the ability to get his guys meaningful fights.

Considering he supposedly got £1m for his mandatory defence against Bizier, why would he take £600k to move up in weight and fight a world champion?

Warren is living in the past. You're going to have to pay more than £600k these days to get a world champion and one of the biggest names in British boxing now to move up in weight and fight in a domestic showdown.

I don't agree with fighters being overpaid for easy work, but that's the way it is. So if you want to get them into a good fight, you have to put your hand in your pocket and pay them big money. Warren doesn't have the funds to do that anymore, that's why he can't secure huge fights for any of his fighters. When was the last time any of his fighters were involved in a really big fight?

Warren is bitter that Hearn has taken over

Liam should be aiming for the best in his own division

Austin Trout is suing the WBO

“Trout claims ‘the WBO disregarded its rules and regulations in exchange for financial payments from English promoter Frank Warren, whose financial clout was such that the WBO fraudulently showed no regard whatsoever for its own rules, regulations, or any form of ethics to prevent Mr. Trout from obtaining a deserved title fight.’ ”

Browsing through the WBO’s archived ratings show that Trout was ranked No. 5 as of January and was up at No. 3 as of April. He was back down at No. 4 as of May, then completely gone in July, not returning to the rankings — and the No. 4 slot — until September. By then, Smith (who had been up to No. 3) and Thompson (No. 5) had been announced for the title fight.
Junior middleweight contender Austin Trout has sued the World Boxing Organization (WBO), filing his case earlier this week in his local Dona Ana County Court in New Mexico, according to Courthouse News Service. The lawsuit comes over the fight for a world title stripped from Demetrius Andrade earlier this year. The vacant belt wound up around the waist of Liam Smith, who stopped John Thompson in October.

Warren sending out offers when he knows the other team are already scheduled for a bigger, more significant fight against a far more proven quantity.

If you want a laugh, go and watch Warren's latest interview with IFL TV. It's the closest thing you'll ever see to a human spontaneously combusting live on film. Hearn has this guy so rattled.
