Why did it take this guy so long to fight?

He actually did well for his position against GGG. If he had some serious fire power behind his punches I think he could've made the fight a lot more interesting.

I like the guys heart and willingness to try something else when something isn't working. Hopefully he found a way to go to 154, I think he'll be competitive there.

I suppose Monroe really believes his own bull. He was soundly and easily beaten by GGG, there is no doubt about that. You really have to wonder why it took him a year to come back.

I think he was having promoter issues, them getting TV dates + his own issues with them one would assume since he has left them at this point, hence him losing a year. Too many f#cking promoters either busy marinating or busy sidelining notable mfers.

Personally I'm glad to see Willie back as he's from the place I currently live, he eats at a Puerto Rican joint literally down the street from me, Cocina Latina, that I frequent. I've yet to run into him there.

Look who stopped by for lunch, our favorite boxer Willie El Mongoose Monroe! — feeling excited.

Willie is a good fighter, but is a B-/C+ level at best. I don't think we will see any big wins from him.

He will be a good lipnus test for some other fighters. A gatekeeper of sorts.

For sure he'll be more of a gatekeeper to the guys who eventually fight the title holders, but idk about him not getting any big wins. I think I like his chances vs David Lemieux who's a solid top 5 guy for most I think. Although I suspect thats about the best guy I could see him beating right now.

For sure doe he's in that region where Razor Ruddock was post-Tyson L's & Dillian Whyte is right now post-Joshua L in needing to prove he can get that big win vs making a solid enough account for himself in a L. So he needs to prove he can win, not just lose in a fun way.
