Of course Martinez isn't taking the bet . He knows his ass is getting whooped.

It takes a certain set of balls and skill set to take a bet like that. Some fighters just aren't prepared to accept.

He's a special human being that's for sure. He needs to face Salido to gain some revenge.

Martinez and Pedraza are so much alike with both looking for fame and fortune and acceptance from the Puerto Ricans, and while being the only champions on the island, they still play second fiddle to Verdejo. Martinez knows by beating Loma on Saturday will bring him instant fame here in PR and Puerto Ricans everywhere that he's willing to risk it all in the ring. He won't win on Saturday, and he'll lose the title, but he can't bet 300K because he probably ain't even getting paid that much...

Funny how Martinez said Loma was the one that brought the money (bet) up first, for this fight, when it was Martinez that talked about making a bet in the announcement conference.

Loma is a 35:1 betting favorite. That's mighty generous of him to be willing to make an even odds bet against Martinez...

Those odds do not reflect real world odds. It should be like 2-1, but betting heavily skews the balance. Smart peeps should throw down a 20 on Martinez as it could mean a nice return. Loma is going into a fight with a tough guy. Loma also has brittle hands. So many things can happen.

The offer was made at the time due to Walters' outrageous financial demands, ultimately pricing himself out of the fight.
There was something outrageous about Walters asking for more than $500k when Loma was getting $800k?
