well the thing is...Gatti will have the title AND be the REAL champion at Welter...

Tarver is "THE" champ at LHW because he beat THE man...

Tito, DLH, Mosley, Forrest, Mayorga, Spinks, Judah, Baldomir...then most likely Gatti...Gatti will be the linear champ...everyone else will be belt holders oddly enough

It doesn't matter who the best fighter in a division is: the champion is the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy etc. etc. Sonny Liston was better than Patterson and everyone knew this but it wasn't until he got his shot at Patterson's title and knocked him out that he became the champion.

They don't put the belt around the waist of the guy the general public believes to be the best. That would just be ridiculous.
