As a boxing fan I want pros in the Olympic games

I would watch every single match any pro was involved in just to see if they got upset or how they adjust their style to suit the amateur scoring system..

Would be amazing to see some young unknown kid beat a couple professionals on his way to a gold medal....

Most of the guys at the olympics will turn pro and be fighting 4-6-8 rounders for a couple years before we even hear their names again unless they are superstars like Floyd,Roy,Oscar etc....

Why not bring the sport back to the mainstream and get some eyeballs on the tv during the Olympic Games this summer....

Plus I really, really, really wanna see Amir Khan get chin checked by some fking skinny azz Indian kid that won't even make it as a professional lol...

Im not up on the amateurs from overseas but if there's any guys left out there like Lomachenko or Rigondeaux then good luck to the pros who run into them in the games...

I don't. I think it's pathetic as heck for a pro to want to go fight a bunch of amateurs. I get that not everyone realized their dream of Olympic gold before they turned pro, but c'mon son, now you wanna go rob a few kids of their dream? Not to mention the Olympics is already crooked as it is

it just needs to be either all amateur or all pro (except, in the latter case, in countries where the top amateur can beat the top pro)

they left it way too close to rio to announce it so i am opposed to pros partaking this year, but by 2020 it should be fine

the amateurs still have plenty of tournaments

This is exactly how I feel. I'm not a fan of pro's being in the Olympics

I don't think there is gonna be as much mixture as people think in the grand scheme of things. I suspect it'll be 99% amateur this year if not 100%. In 2020 it might be 50/50ish. And in 2024 it'll be 99%+ pro. I think amateurs fighting in the Olympics is a endangered species that can't reproduce so its just a matter of time til its done. The Olympics is already 99% pros. Its only a matter of time before boxing either jumps on board with pros or gets kicked off the bus.

So is it pathetic for the soccer teams and baseball teams to do the same. The soccer games get intense

Then all you like in the Olympics is boxing & wrestling cuz everything else is pros competing.

I think people just got a dated concept of what the Olympics is. Its been moving to 100% pros for awhile. I was actually legit surprised to learn only boxing & wrestling are amateurs these days.

I don't see the big deal doe. Just watch the World Championships. Plus it'll make the World Championships that much bigger once the Olympic games quits with amateurs 100%.

Pro's in other sports can't kill each other man. LeBron being in the Olympics won't lead to a shorter life span towards his competitors. That's my biggest argument, honestly. Putting guys with so much experience with amateurs (head gear or not) is dangerous

The soccer and baseball teams are going up against other pros, the best from their respective countries. Now you wanna take a pro and put them up against guys who have limited experience in boxing? That's not even a good comparison
