Comments Thread For: Eubank Jr. Downs Critics Who Feel Olympics is Step Backwards

British super middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. is still very motivated on the idea of representing his country in the Rio Olympics. On Tuesday, GB Boxing issued a statement which denied his request, stating that there is no room in his division.

    :/...

Instead of beating on amateurs he should be beating world ranked mw pro fighters and represent his country that way... Easy to say the olympics isnt a step back when you havent exactly reached the top in the pro ranks lol. Get yourself a major world title... Let the amateurs fight for their equivalent.

Makes me wonder how serious they are about fighting Golovkin this year. I don't know what to think.

This guy hasn't even left the UK and lost his only fight against a decent/good fighter so instead of working his way up to a world title he's trying to fight amateurs. I find it kind of shameful. Concentrate on being the best in your division. "If I can't beat the best in the pro ranks might as well try for the amateurs" is what it seems like.

What's the point if he in the absolutely best case scenario he wins a gold..if BjS is still walking around with his scalp lol

Wasn't he, his daddy and Eddie Hearn saying just a couple days ago that they will 100% pursue a GGG fight next? Hearn said he cares about nothing besides facing GGG.
What a farce, what a joke.

Step backwards for the amateurs maybe

Eubank Jr would get thoroughly outclassed in the olympics.
