As for HBO the numbers aren't bad and actually up from their last Boxing After Dark card. Little guys like Vargas and Salido are not big in size or big in name. Good scrap but was never thinking it was going to be a huge draw 1mil draw. HBO more then DOUBLED ESPN's card that's good.
u say it as though it was not expected with the names on both cards

He says it like he wants PBC to fail so bad

Wait till you hear how they spin PBC getting a network deal.

"They ran out of money so they just had to take the funding from the network!"

The only thing in question is how much will they receive for a licensing fee from each network and which networks.
Based on what evidence are they getting a network deal? CBS cares so much about the PBC brand that they canceled their PBC on CBS daytime series from last year and will air Thurman vs Porter under the Showtime Boxing production instead of letting PBC produce the fight. As for Spike their ratings on Friday stunk and they get better ratings from Bellator MMA which costs just a fraction of the production costs and fighter purses. At this point I don't see any of these networks buying PBC especially ESPN after PBC couldn't fullful the amount of shows they promised and with the ratings so dreadful. They can simply go back to producing their own boxing series like Friday Night Fights which is infinitely cheaper.

Based on the amount of money PBC has flushed down the toilet they need a big TV deal because these networks only airing PBC right now because they are being heavily paid for. No network is going to pay big bucks when PBC can't even draw 400k viewers on ESPN. They re-air Sportscenter at 4am and can get those type ratings.

In dunny's world, CBS PAYING for a PBC presented fight is a bad thing.

At this point they failed on the big networks so bad any FOX or NBC deal is out the window. Both big networks have gotten worse ratings each time out they are literally setting alltime low ratings every card they put out on each network. CBS put an axe to those early day weekend cards from last year. Your only hope for a tv is maybe spike but it will be a small deal along the line of what Golden Boy got from FS1 a ESPN2 FNF type budget. Spike has no reason to pay much more then that when they pay little to Bellator and get as good or better ratings. If PBC walks they go strictly MMA or they pay one of the other boxing promoters for a monthly series.

FS1 won't pay for PBC they getting same ratings for Golden Boy Live they could let PBC expire and go back to paying Golden Boy or some other promoter little money for boxing content no need to overpay for PBC. Showtime already has a better boxing brand in Showtime Boxing and can operate business as usual with Haymon on fight by fight basis. CBS hasn't aired a PBC produced fight in like 9 months and when they did the ratings were dreadful but people think CBS is going to pay for a TV deal? SMH PBC can barely afford to pay for these boxing cards and is sending all their relevant fights back to Showtime for a reason.

By the way, if the show averaged 394K, it most definitely broke 400K with its peak.

As for the HBO numbers...yes, they are actually "up," technically. The March 5 BAD headlined by Ortiz averaged 714K viewers, while Saturday's fight averaged 717K.

HOWEVER, considering that HBO scheduled the premiere of its biggest movie this month ("The Martian") as the lead-in to BAD, and considering that over 2.2 MILLION people were watching HBO right before BAD came on, an average of 717K for BAD is mediocre, at best.
Yeah because being SLIGHTLY better then FNF on ESPN2 with a budget of 50k is the same as PBC on ESPN's main channel where the budget is literally 20X that is success? Not to mention the millions they paid ESPN for the air time. So spending 100's of millions to create your own brand that runs neck and neck with FNF on ESPN2 is what Haymon was looking for? Way to try and lower the bar to pretend those 2016 debut ratings aren't a disaster. And whatever movie HBO airs has never had a impact on their boxing ratings...NEVER. IF you turning on HBO for a fight you don't care what movie they aired earlier in the day and vice versa. That's like saying SPIKE had the highest rated episode of COPS right before PBC. They are totally different content. The audience watching the family movie of week on HBO don't care about Boxing. HBO did their avg ratings for a Boxing After Dark fight, ESPN did their WORST ratings yet for a PBC fight, worst then their weeknight fights last year and about HALF the worst PBC Sat night card from last year.

                      PBC on ESPN 2015 ratings
                      800k
                      1.073m
                      1.21m
                      428k*
                      482k*
