Top athletes in general are *******s because in many ways, you have to be, you have to think your the best, you have to be arrogant, as long as your actions dont undermine the team, or you do whats best for the team, or in boxing..you do whats best for you while attempting to cement a legacy, then its fine by me.

I always had full support from my family. In highschool I used to eat alot of **** from the older kids when I would wear my teams boxing jacket. I learned to ignore them or I would have been fighting everyday. But then in my senior year they had amatuer cards at the Palace of AuburnHills. I fought on the first one against sugar ray leonards team and won a unanimous decision. Then the next month I fought the co-mainevernt in a bout against Jimmy Ellis' team, again winning a unanimous decision.. After winning a golden glove title and a diamond glove tile in Detroit they started to change their tune. After all of the **** I ate from people they finally aknowldeged me and now wanted to know me instead of just taking cheap shots. I knew who my real friends were and always kept them close while keeping the others at a short distance. I have never been one to vent my anger or frustrations at other people. I found that the fighting that I did in the gym was all the vent that I needed.

As far as fighters being ass holes, I disagree for the most part. Some are rather rude and obnoxious but by far most are just really nice calm people. If you are not in the boxing circle you may get a different attitude from fighters. After all, they are always being bothered to give people this or that or sign this or that.

If you only know boxers from the television or from chance meeting, yeah they may appear to be ****s. But if you have bled with them in the ring you will have their respect. I am rather surprised that you would write this Joey. In time if you get fighting you will see that you just **** on your peers with these words.

i dont feel i have because trying to be a fighter i am actually carrying ALOT of heat from my family and my friends 50 percent dont think i can do it and the other half dont wanna see me hurt BUT wanna laugh at me for not doing it

i know this is a best case senerio and the fact that its been worst only tells me that any boxer that plays the roll of a jerk yeah im glad they do because i would and will be one too on the count of the ****s i had to put up with on my way up

how'd i **** on my peers?? if someone treats me like **** and i decide to not respect them and consider them nothing that isnt there fault that alot of people treat them like garbage ....i totally understand if they are jerks thats all im saying

            you cant generalize.

We ourself make these mistakes so who are we to judge those people who we dont know them personally.

I belive yes there are some people abuse or maybe disagree in things but look at the bright side some of them make something good.

for example Ouma and Mirnda open instuite to help childern.

I never said that you **** on yourself. I stated that your words are like ****ting on your peers in the game.

I took alot of heat from alot of people on my way through the sport. I had enough class and dignity to be cordial and polite with the people when they came around. Like I said I knew who my real friends were and was just cordial to the rest.

And not pokin' here, but you havent even had a fight yet. You dont know what real heat is even about. I commend you for stepping in the gym to give it a shot but come on man.

You can return the peoples heat with venom, that is your choice. In time you will see that they are just jealous because you are doing something that they wish they were doing. Either you can be a **** or you can be a man and let their words remain in the past. You threw some **** at me and said some really ****y stuff to me. We had it out and now its all cool. So are you the one that eats their **** or are you one that throws the ****? You ate your friends **** and then threw it at me. So in essence are you any better than the people making fun of you? If your going to be a fighter it is something that you will just have to deal with. People will challenge you constantly. In school at bars at the fricken grocery store. Get their respect as a person and you will go much further than just trying to have their respect as a fighter.

one thing i hated was....you know when you are going to fight you are getting ready to physic yourself up and get in the state of mind needed to fight, to go up into that ring and fight....i got people snickering at me for hyping myself up, they thinking im showing off when im doing what i have to do to get physiced to step into the ring, cause i remember every damn time before i stepped into the ring i was a bit scared. i don't think many people know the feeling it feels to step into the ring or why a fighter has to have a strong mentallity, a ferious mentality, even it may mean the boxer is an *******, he's doing what he has to, to prepare for battle. even to this day, when i do my boxing exercise at home, i ****en hate when somebody interups me while doing my boxing routine, it ****s up the whole routine, especially cause i finally got the strength to get off my ass and do exercise. boxing is a tough sport, its just that many boxers make it seem so easy.

when im training and trying to shake off the past abuse i did to my body so i can fight and i got people telling me it aint gonna work that is heat man

if anybody really read it you would have read that its before the fights its before all that its the preperation stage that im talking about where people dont take you seriously

and i wasnt sayings "all" fighters are *******s i was meaning the ones that are they prolly had alot of **** comming up granted some are just hardcases but you got the fraction that i was pointing out that were just trying to go forward and didnt get **** for support

                    thats what im talking about

and i have had plenty of karate matches man somewhere in the hundreds in the dojo easily so you can stop useing the "i havent had any fights " thing loosly
