Plus, you have the fact that people are so used to the full on HBO crew with Lampley and Merchant, so it is difficult for other people to come in and impress against them, especially since it is their first show together.

By the way, on fights like these on the BAD cards, it will be the crew you saw, whereas the big world championship fights, starting with Hatton-Collazo, will be handled by Lampley etc etc.
Great stuff you got going in your boxingblog, I remember reading "If castillo was a heavyweight." Awesome reads.

They were god-awful the first fight but they seemed to work together better the second (or else I was just blocking them out more). Fran Charles' voice is just to "soft" and he doesn't set up Lennox and Max like he should. His questions were "Lennox, what'd cha think about that punch?" And Lennox would respond with "Well, Fran, it was... a hard punch." It appeared as if Max was trying to contain himself too much... someone must have told him that he talks too much and he needs to calm it down a little.

I was wondering why Max was taking so long to get into the commentary mode but I don't think he's every done ringside coverage before... I think most of his stuff is done in the studio.

Oh, and those who complained about how he was so... one sided for Raheem, you better get used to it. I think his favorite fighter was Pernell Whitaker, he loved Roy Jones and when he was on ESPN all he ever talked about was Zab Judah. He has a thing for the fast, slick boxers.

I think they'll be better in time... I can handle a calmer Max. Hell, if they keep Lennox's output to to a minmum it'll be OK. I would like a better lead man than that Fran Charles, though. His voice just doesn't say... blood and guts battle to me.

I'm only thinking of people I'm not annoyed by.

Berndstein, Tessiatore, and Lampley all are exciting announcers. Al breaks the fight down well...and adds some great history. Between Lampley and Tessiatore:

We'd have all the excitement we need.

Lampley is ****ing hilarious and exciting.

                  Tessiatore is exciting.

Fran is a woman's name..............I was sure that there was a woman that was starting on the broadcast team.

Maybe you blocked them out better than you thought man

Kellerman sounds like he's about to vomit at the start of each sentence when he's in full gush mode. Can't stand it. Don't want it on my boxing. Prefer Lampley, and God forbid, even Merchant's pissy poetry.
