Comments Thread For: Martin Murray Believes Groves Will Mentally Break, Crumble Late

Martin Murray has warned George Groves he's going to drag him into deep waters and make him crumble when they face-off in an eliminator for the WBA World Super-Middleweight title at The O2 on June 25, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Groves might possibly run out of steam but he won't break mentally. He's a very strong willed character.

This is certainly do or die for groves. Groves, at his best, should be able to beat Martin Murray , but he quite clearly hasn't recovered from Froch beating.

I wouldn't say he's mentally weak, he just comes up short when it matters. I think he lacked direction after the Froch 2 defeat, but since he's been with McGuigan he looks more relaxed and focused. I got him beating Murrary.

Murray, by his own admission doesn't know how to finish a championship fight and from what I've seen of him recently, he certainly hasn't improved that aspect of his game. Groves wins this, probably looks good doing it.

The best Groves has ever looked is with Booth and then Paddy. Since he has been with McGuigan, he has been slow, tired and almost demotivated. He could easily have beaten Jack if he'd thrown like 2 extra punches a round but he threw that fight away. I had it a draw.

Jack is there for the taking but just about everyone at SMW currently is workmanlike/poor stamina.

I don't think Groves has changed all that much but Murray definitely looks less effective at 12 stone than he did at middleweight. If he could somehow recapture his Sturm and Martinez form then Groves should get a very tough fight and proper stamina test.
                  Hard to see Groves losing.
