I watched a Robert Garcia video and he said that Maidana is 230 lbs right now, I'm not saying is not possible, but Maidana will have to lose a lot of weight in a short time.

Chino Maidana was the last old school fighter of his era. The welterweight division is weak without the skilled puncher from South America.

Maidana is one of my favorite fighters. I thought he looked soft at 147 and shouldn't fight above that weight. If he takes his time and watches his diet I think he can be strong at any weight he fought at before including 140. It's a matter of will power and discipline because he clearly loves to eat more food than his body needs. He is still young enough to have more success in boxing and I hope he has a great comeback.

He should insist on more time. Taking off that much weight too fast will hurt him and he won't be at his best. If he lost 10 pounds a month, which is very rapid weight loss, he would still need 8 months to get back down to welterweight. He might win fights at 154 or 160 but that's not his best weight and he will be fighting naturally bigger men.

Was rooting on Maidana calling it a career. With the time off + his $ situation + his seeming lack of love for boxing (based on his almost retirement pre-Garcia & sorta kinda recent retirement) I suspect we've seen the best of Maidana already & this comeback could have a moment or two, but for his long term health I suspect its a bad decision. Hope he changes his mind if this news is correct. Seems like there was a similar rumor last year with him coming back around Nov/Dec too so who knows.

Shame he and Pacquiao never squared off, that would have been interesting. I doubt it has any chance of happening now.
