a knockdown was the only thing missing from that fight. If it would have been Vargas dropping Salido I would have gone crazy.

    Vargas/Miura>>>Vargas/Salido

For the record I enjoyed Pacquiao Marquez 4 and Molina vs Matthyse. Those were wars that had a decisive winner and had several knockdowns. But wars with no decisive winner, no knockdowns or Ko's just feels like a waste. Both these guys beat the crap out of each other and it felt like it was for nothing.

Okay but as it was happening you couldn't say it was boring (which is what the thread title says)...they were trading huge shots that would have resulted in knockdowns or knockouts to most fighters. I guess I would understand what you are saying more if it was a Figeuroa type fight where they are constantly throwing with no power behind the shots

Yea I agree, its more entertaining if one of the fighters is forced into a war so he has to change his gameplan
But 2 guys choosing to block punches with their face swinging at each other, knowing they cant hurt each other isnt that interesting to watch.
There needs to be back and forth action, where one guy takes the play away from the other only for the other to come back
That said Ive never watched the fight
Was never that entertained by the Corrales/Castillo fight, only the ending was entertaining since there was so much back and forth

If any "fan" didn't find last night's fight entertaining, then I suggest that you switch to a different sport. I recommend figure skating,or underwater basketweaving. Last night was two fighters with serious punchingpower unloading nuclear bombs on each other, and both refusing to back off. They both had the power to hurt each other, and it turned into a battle of wills. No running,no cheap defensive styles, just two warriors trying to impose their will on each other. If no knockdowns happened,so what? More credit to both guys for refusing to go down. Boxing fans have become spoiled these days, and their views have become clouded. In an era in which fighters have adopted a defensive mentality, and are content with dancing their way to a 12 round decision,we get a gem like last night's fight, and there's still people who are complaining about it not having knockdowns? You guys better switch over to ufc,in which champions get ko'd silly in the first round, and the supposed best p4p in the world gets submitted by an out of shape dorito ******** pothead who got off the couch to beat him.

The result of the fight was fair, I too thought it was a draw But seeing the amount of punishment these dudes inflicted upon each other for a result where neither man won just seems like a wasted night. Boxing is already taxing on the body, so I'm sure every time these guys step in there they don't even contemplate the thought of losing so my heart just sank for those guys when it was declared a draw. All that punishment for basically nothing it seemed.

It just felt anticlimatic. Do any of you guys get bored watching wars with no knockdowns, especially when there is no clear cut winner?
Did you find floyd vs baldomir or vs berto highly entertaining?

How can you get bored? Maybe you are frustrated because you think someone deserves the win but boring it is def not

I am a huge Mayweather fan.

I think it is incredible the way he avoids punishment from the best the sport has to offer.

This, while usually delivering 50% of the power shots he throws.

It is just a rare display of the science, the taking it to an ultimate level.

That being said, if you are a boxing fan and you fail to appreciate what happened last night, you should simply stop following the sport.

Salido vs Vargas has instant classic written all over it.

                    So glad I taped it.

It also depends on your taste, I get bored wathcing 2 guys killing each other with no defense. Maidana vs Victor Ortiz and Soto Karass made me yawn, but Maidana vs Amir Khan was entertaining. It depends..
You're a fan of the sweet science. You get more enjoyment from the "hit and not get hit" philosophy. Actually seeing a fighter use skill to avoid taking punishment.

Which is what boxing really should be about, frankly. Unfortunately MMA has gotten people to the point that they just want to see two people hurt each other with no defense.

My frustration with fans is exactly why I've got the Tyson/Gross GIF in my sig. To show them what it SHOULD be.
