That was the name Ali himself renounce. So no I didn't mess up, if he wanted to pay homage to Ali wouldn't he name his son Muhammad? Lol

Ali originally changed his name to Cassius X after the Sonny Liston fight so it wasn't his first name he had a problem with. Sure, he was only Cassius X for ten days or so until Elijah Muhammad gave him the name Muhammad Ali but the point still stands.

Both Muhammed Ali and his father were named after Cassius Marcellus Clay who freed his father's ****** when he inherited them and fought against slavery. Seems a strange person to hold a grudge against but considering the Nation of Islam's teachings about white people it's not surprising.
