Copenhagen, Denmark - The Icelandic Polar Bear, big Gunnar Kolbeinn Kristinsson (6-0), the only professional boxer from Iceland, was too big and strong for Kim Thomsen (4-1) and won on a knockout in the second round. Thomsen made a good start and used his jab well with Kolbeinn looking slow and ponderous. But once Kolbeinn found the range for his heavy jab the right followed and Thomsen was down late in the first. In the second Kolbeinn dominated and knocked down Thomsen with a one-two combination. The Dane got up but was unsteady and went down again from a left hook and it was stopped without a count at 1.52. Kolbeinn had a big advantage in both height and weight and that played a big part in his win.
