Comments Thread For: Pacquiao Gets New Deadline From AIBA To Decide on Olympics

A new deadline set by the International Boxing Organization -AIBA - under the jurisdiction of the International Olympic Committee, has given eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao time to change his mind if he so decides and accept a "wild card" entry to compete in the junior welterweight division of the Olympic Games in Rio in August.

JWW is 141 lbs, Pacquiao isn't making that weight for every fight.

Phillipines have never won a gold medal, this might be their best chance.

Manny pretty small he could make 141 surely.

They get weighed before every fight, they fight every couple of days, there's no dehydrating 10lbs and putting the weight back on. Manny weighs around 150 in the ring on fight night.

Wasn't there just an article on BS saying that there wouldn't be any wild cards for any pro boxers wanting to join in the Olympics? AIBA ad IOC are really desperate to get Manny to join, I'm not sure why, Manny's best days are long behind him.

I'm almost sure you have to pay/buy a ticket to see the fight. The aiba wants these pros in the Olympics so they can make a truck load of money. They could care less about fighter safety. The pros won't get paid and the aiba gets all the money. Why is man so greedy?

Some of the pros might lose, they are taking the amateurs not so serious, they have been training like a pro all year round and most of the pros might be caught off guard with all their inactivity. Olympics start on the 5th August we are already 3rd June.

                  Don't forget that the amateurs have their mentality on a 3 x 3 or 4 x 3 rounds not 10 x 3 or 12 x 3 with a slow tempo.

This is a joke of an idea ....any pro boxers with any sense should just say how ridiculous the idea is ....only a fool would go with this.
