Seriously, has every name in boxing got together and decided "this is the guy we want to represent boxing for the next decade"?

To an extent, yes - boxing is desperate for a new star and Joshua has genuine crossover potential on a worldwide basis. That's why the alphabet bodies had him ranked in their top ten while he was barely a year into his professional career.

How does someone as experienced as Holyfield somehow manage to know nothing about boxing?? Joshua is still unproven an elite level and even if he fulfills his potential he will always be vulnerable. He doesn't have an iron chin. I remember when Mike Tyson seemed invincible, and AJ doesn't have that kind of aura.

I like AJ but beating someone like Breazeale will prove nothing. I don't see how he is above Klitschko and Fury either.

This is not as crazy as everyone thinks... Joshua has the weakest resume in Heavyweight history, and is in the U.K. fighting bum after bum... 50 bums = 50 wins... he's already beaten 19 bums out of 19...

As far as what it would prove... it would prove nothing. Marciano fought every challenge and ducked nobody, and actually scored knock outs and won his fights...

These new fighters dance around and have judge's hand them wins they don't deserve...

Holyfield needs a new catscan cuz the last one was wrong.

This mfer ain't popping off 34 title defenses wtfffff man.

I'll be shocked if he gets to 30-0. HW is for real, these mfers can hit & there are clues in amateur fights + the Whyte fight that maybe Joshua's chin isn't that solid. And thats not even to dog the man. He's obviously a skilled enough guy just to get where he's gotten & seemingly willing to take on bigger challenges in the near future, but come on Holyfield. I bet Joshua even smirked at that comment.

Give it 6 years and if he's still champion then we can start talking records lol
I think both Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder give him hell right now. Fury especially is a lot more battle tested too. If Wilder fought both of them today he certainly wouldn't come out the other side undefeated.

For me at this point it would be like saying Errol Spence is going to break the Mayweather record. Maybe, but he's a long way from doing it and a lot of questions about him remain to be answered. Same with Joshua.

Idk that I'd compare this situation with Spence in that way. This is HW. And these are big ass HW's. This isn't that Louis era where guys were barely 200 most of the time. These are 235lb 6ft4 or better guys. NO ONE is doing some Louis era type reign at HW. And hell man even Rocky's 49-0 only had 6 or 7 title fights vs elite caliber guys iirc. He caught the title deep in his career, got a few defenses in & got out. With the schedule todays fighters keep if Joshua did the same thing Rocky did he'd be retired at 22-0, 23-0 maybe 3-4yrs from now. Sure nothing is impossible, within reason, but there is like a .0000012% chance Joshua is retiring 49-0 & I think I might be overestimating that.

Joshua has got to get past the likes of Parker, Ortiz and Fury. These guys arent just a walk in the park.

I think a good test for Joshua would be Amir Mansour, the dudes old but durable and can hit as hard as 85% of the current HWs. He could light Joshua up if he lands.

As long he doesn't fight someone like Luis King Kong Ortiz, he'll be alright. I see him as a favorite against any other heavyweight out there but Ortiz knocks him out.
