Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Questions Hearn's Position on Joshua vs. Haye

DAVID HAYE'S opponent last week called himself The Cobra' he should have been called The Swallow'. Arnold Gjergjaj went down without a meaningful punch landing and he was out of his depth the moment he left Switzerland.

i don't mind Warren generally speaking, but ffs he sounds so bitter at times. Joshua has only had 16 fights. He's fighting unbeaten, hungry fighters and is going to get to the huge fights within 3 or 4 fights. Give the guy a break.

Virtually everything Frank says is coloured by bias. If he had a heavyweight, would he be speaking badly of Briggs? No. He'd be lining him up as an opponent for his HW, talking about how he's in the best shape of his career and all sorts. Some of the guys Frank put Delboy in with before the Fury rematch were laughably bad, far worse than Briggs.

Definitely a little bitter, but also he's trying to push them out there. I think everyone wants to see what AJ is capable of. If he's still being protected after coming up on 40 fights like Wilder, then he can talk all of the **** he wants and I don't care lol.

"we have to hope TV channel Dave doesn't bail out"

Er... 2.5 million viewers. On Dave. In primetime. They're going nowhere.

I do agree that both Haye and Joshua are fighting the wrong opposition. Haye had his easy night, then it should have been Briggs, then a bigger fight. If Joshua is good enough to hold a belt then he needs to show he's good enough to defend it properly.

The problem is that 20,000 people are turning up to all of these poor fights and they're making millions. When the public votes with its feet and demands Joshua vs Haye, we'll get it.

Typical bitterness again from Warren, always harping on about fighters not under his poisonous banner.

I would like to see Haye fight better opposition but at least he has been open about his plans [for once]. He said he would be fighting regularly to see how his shoulder holds up after potentially career-ending surgery. He has done this and so far has not had any injury-based withdrawals. I don't think anyone really expected him to have a murderers row of opponents did they?

As for Briggs, why would the BBBC not give him a licence? He is old but is still in mean condition and would be an interesting match-up against all the current top 10. It is not like he in a Roy Jones type position where he is suffering brutal KO's. He has definitely made the HW interesting and if he does share a ring with Haye it will be a very interesting fight.

As for Joshua, I think people are holding the Charles Martin win against him because he made it look so easy. Dominic Breazeale is being saddled with stigma of Prince Charlie's failure, with people thinking that he will be another pushover. He may well be, but that would be down to Joshua's strengths rather than Breazele's failures. He is a very credible opponent, very big, no young/green, probably a better record than Joshua. Hopefully it will be good test. Definitely nothing wrong with Joshua fighting regularly as well.
