Comments Thread For: Hearn: Eubank is Bigger UK Fight For Golovkin Than Saunders

Several potential options are out there for WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight world champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs). Matchroom Sports head Eddie Hearn, who promotes British middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (22-1, 17KOs), says his fighter is the biggest financial opportunity available in the UK.

Saunders is stagnating. Eubank has been active and growing his profile. I think for his punch output and chin alone he would have a great chance against Golovkin.

Neither is that big a fight. Not big enough for Golovkin to travel but his options are slim. I still favor Lara. Sure I expect him to get stopped but it's a nice blend of styles and he's a hell of a lot more interesting than these other names. Would be a nice name to add on the resume too -- especially if he does better than Canelo.

Golovkin is a much bigger draw in the states than Eubank Jr is in the UK. Why in the world would Golovkin travel for that fight?

Hearn is correct, but BJS has that last belt while Eubank has nothing.

Golovkin would probably fight BJS in an empty gym if it means finishing his collection.

Because Golovkin has a huge fan base in the UK too. Factor in Eubank's fan base, and the hype machine that will kick into action, and that could feasibly be a ginormous stadium fight, selling 50,000+ tickets. It's not hard to understand.

GGG-Eubank on UK PPV at a football stadium generates far more money than if the fight happens at the Forum or StubHub Center.

Stagnating? Growing his profile? Since Eubank lost to Saunders, he has gone on to fight 2 nobodies and fight for the British title. While Saunders has become a world champion beating Andy Lee.

Saunders went life and death with a domestic level operator. Twice, in fact.
