The sport is simply more popular in this country than it is in yours.

Merchant should've just done his job and acted like a professional, but he was always inserting his personal opinion into everything.
Larry hated Floyd during his pretty boy floyd days. When Floyd was taking on the best and knocking them out. I can't remember which fight it was but during the interview Larry called Floyd ****** in a sly way. He asked Floyd about the fight and Floyd was trying to say something and started stuttering. Merchant told Floyd he's only quick in the ring. The Ortiz fight was the last straw. That's why Floyd said Merchan has never given him a fair shake. Merchant cheered when Mayorga KO'd Vernon becaust Forrest came to the ring rapping his song. Merchant was racist af. Anybody objective can see that.

Are you sure about that? He said Pavlik shouldn't have fought Hopkins and Pavlik should've fought lesser guys for more money

lol I'm not about to defend those fights, not at all. Fury vs Klitschko, AJ vs Whyte & Quigg vs Frampton all successful for a nation our size, all recent & all involving English men.

GGG vs Lemieux & Canelo vs Cotto? Am I missing any other big PPVs apart from Floydie? Notice the trend? No fighters from the states. I love use lot but you're not the end all and be all.

I used to get a kick out of Merchant's crazy babbling. It was entertaining to watch him express his old curmudgeon thoughts and opinions. I liked when he and Mayweather got into that little fracas. I thought both of them acted like idiots. Larry has been going senile for a long time and he's always been a grumpy guy. He was entertaining but I think he's always been an @sshole but I did kind of miss him after he left HBO. Lampley, Merchant, Manny Steward, Roy Jones and George Foreman all entertained me on different levels. Some for their ludicrous buffoonery, others for their insights and others for both their silliness mixed with their insight. Haha

I didn't think Larry Merchant leaving HBO had anything to do with the Mayweather incident because I seem to remember him commenting on at least a few fights after that.

Boxing soft as hell now and that's why the sport is dead in America.. It's only big in euro countries where dudes cherrypick like crazy, and the public thinks it's great,,, in America that crap don't sell. Ie Brook vs jojo, haye's comeback opponents, sturm, abraham, etc

Larry Merchant always just said the wrong **** at the wrong time or just something plain ******...

Like everytime I rewatch Marquez-Pacquiao IV, whenever Marquez knocks Pac out cold and Lampley and Jones are going crazy and Merchant be like: "And there might be a 5th fight with Marquez" while Pac literally looks like he is dead on the canvas

                ^I facepalm everytime

Merchant was FIRED. Parting in good terms means they just fired him quietly. Problem was Merchant factored into the decision that Mayweather made going to Showtime. It wasn't that Merchant made the difference, just that even the slightest or minor reason like that could have tipped the cup. That was too much for HBO.

Because Mayweather went to Showtime, HBO lost out on hosting Mayweather vs. Pacquiao exclusively.HUGE amount of money. Merchant happened to be one of the various reasons, so they let him go. Also, when Floyd made his debut All-Access for Showtime, this was one of the very first things he talked about.
Delusional floydhype fanboys with their delusional assumptions. Doesn't matter the fact that HBO could no longer afford the expensive services of a greedy guy that it's no longer practical to keep him. Doesn't matter Showtime almost closed shop last year trying to recover from he Haymon/TBE financial devastation.
