I mean, unless Canelo has a Manny/Floyd option, GGG is the biggest fight for Canelo out there.
Those 2 guys are retired and I think no fight would beat a GGG vs Nelo fight at 154 or 160, would do better numbers IMO than a Nelo vs Cotto 2
The hype is big for this fight with all that "ducking" drama and social medias have been reaching a little casual fans.Comment

When Cotto was alluding to holding out for a Mayweather rematch, if he beat Canelo, it actually made sense. GGG wasn't anywhere near Mayweather, in terms of business or status in the boxing world. Cotto received a lot of flak, but he simply didn't see GGG as being on his level. He would be available, yes, but nothing would be pressured upon him. He would dictate what happened. A fight against Mayweather would've been against the best boxer on the planet, both in a literal and economic sense. It's a totally reasonable position.
But, a year later, this whole Canelo versus GGG fight would do well enough to be considered the biggest fight in boxing. It would at least match Cotto vs Canelo, with all the hype generated by now. The only fights in boxing overall that could match it are Mayweather, Pacquiao, or, as previously stated, Cotto 2. With all things equal, why not prove yourself against the most hyped-up fighter among hardcore fans in the sport?
Even when GGG wasn't a big deal, Cotto still said he would be available. It's just no one believed him. What now? Canelo's promise is nowhere to be seen.
You all should've trusted Cotto, the fighter with the best resume in the sport.
The man was beaten by a huge Mexican using plaster; you think he's afraid of GGG? Please.
Bad choice. Canelo doesn't dare to be great like Cotto. For all the talk, Cotto was the one who took that lineal middleweight title in the first place, by beating Martinez, who had not soon before been considered the GGG of the past.
That's daring to be great.Comment

lol How about fight him because that's the integrity of the sport and not just because you might not get as big of a payday (despite still making millions regardless) as you would fighting someone else? Besides, who else is there for Canelo to fight that would grant a bigger payday? Mayweather again? Pacquiao? Cotto in a rematch? Mother****er is talking about fighting David Lemiuex as a potential opponent next. LOL.
No wonder the UFC is slowly (or perhaps I should say, rapidly) taking over boxing as a popular sport. They have a much better balance between sport and business than boxing does.Comment

What Ive never understood about Canelo is how he and GBP allowed themselves to get cornered like this. They knew full well when they signed to fight Cotto that Golovkin was the mandatory and had only stepped aside on the assurance of the next fight. They agreed to it, even after Cotto was stripped of the belt by the WBC. This was the perfect opportunity to say We arent going to fight for the WBC belt, just the Ring and Lineal. But they proceeded.
Then after the fight, Canelo, full of bravado, says hes not scared and will fight anybody. He could have gave his line about Caneloweight being "his natural weight class" and vacated after the fight. He instead chose to fight Khan as a voluntary on the assumption that Gennady would be next.
So he KOs Khan just like everyone thought he would. What does he do? He corners himself further by inviting Golovkin into the ring and with half the LVPD standing there, tells GGG hed fight him right there. We dont f#Šk around in Mexico...
So, on several occasions Canelo could have gotten himself out from under a GGG fight, and instead he goes the macho route and says he'll fight Golovkin. Ultimately, only a few days before a scheduled purse bid, Canelo shows his real intention of a fight with Gennady.
I guess Canelo and GBP wasnt expecting Sulaiman to say the same thing Canelo did. We dont f#Šk around in Mexico. Fight Golovkin now.Comment

That's cute little story but I dont see how you narrative fits with the fact that Ward was offered a 50-50 purse split. You certainly dont offer an even split and claim a fight doesnt make "financial sense".
And with Lara, notice the difference between the two. Golovkin didnt have to drop a belt, I mean, THE belt, to avoid a fight with Lara. Alvarez had to vacate the title to avoid Golovkin.
Do you see the differences now?Comment
