Terrible decision. He would have made history, plus I was really intrigued to see the looks on those kids faces with Pacquiao unloading on them and battering them down LMAO!! Hopefully Gennady does it!

Good on Pacquiao to focus on his representative duties.

However, I think more pros should compete in the Olympics. I don't agree with the assumption that amateurs are just going to get demolished, the rules are entirely different.

The Olympics hasn't been the best amateurs in the world showing off for a long long time. Most other sports have both pros and amateurs. Why boxing clings on to this system, I have no idea. The World Amateur Championships should be showing off the best amateur talent, the Olympics should be there to show off the best Olympic boxer no matter what they do outside of it.

yes the rules are different but its not night and day. if it's just a b-c level pro boxer then yes i can see them struggling with some top AM guys but the pro boxers that was talking about entering is guys like manny lol. it dont matter how different the rules is in the AM, guys like pac will just run thru his opponents.

Assuming you're right, then thats still fine. Whoever is the best at fighting under the Olympic rules should win a gold medal for their country.... professional or not.

Some pro's have styles that aren't necessarily suited for that type of boxing. I'm not sure really, but fighters like Floyd who have notoriously low output may struggle, as the scoring system isn't going to reward one or two good shots a round. There are also amateurs in the Olympic system who have mastered the Olympic style, and have no intentions of turning professional (for political or personal reasons). I want to see them against the talent of the professional pool too.

On top of that, we get to see professionals fight each other without the corruption of promoter and network politics, they have to fight each other. They can turn these out into selling points into a professional showdown if they like. I honestly don't understand the backlash, other than those who don't like change (which is fine). It only happens once every 4 years, and national prestige is on the line. It should be as inclusive as possible

He could win gold with his amateurish style.

I think he would be destroyed by Kazakh boxers, as he was KOed by them before
