Are the Mexican Holidays officially Canelos or?..

Do you see anyone on the Horizon that can take them from him?

Personally I think if Canelo vs. GGG isn't made, Floyd could swipe Mexican Independence day if he wanted to. Also if Zurdo unified this year, I could see him taking Cinco De Mayo next year, hell maybe if he unified this year he might take Mexican Independence if Canelo doesnt fight GGG. I dont see any opponent besides Floyd or GGG that Canelo can fight that can solidify him as those dates being his. I really think those days are up for grabs. Thoughts?

Normal people will admit that they probably do belong to Ca$hnelo now. The 97K on the other hand probably think the Mexican holiday dates belong to Little G.

        1) Cinco De Mayo weekend isn't an actual "Mexican holiday"; it's a big fight weekend because it's the Weekend of the Kentucky Derby, a racing event that's been run every year since 1875, and that's not going to change. Kentucky Derby Weekend will be staged for the biggest fight possible of the year (Mayweather-Pacquiao II, Alvarez-Cotto II, Alvarez-Golovkin Kovalev/Ward-Stevenson, Wilder-FuryII/Joshua/Povetkin/Haye would all be big enough for the stage)

        2) The only actual "Mexican date" is Mexican Independence Day weekend, and that would be taken over by whatever fight is the biggest possible fight to the Mexican/Mexican-American/Latin fanbase (Alvarez is Mexico's biggest star, so drawing the attention away from Alvarez is going to require a massive fight; Cotto-Marquez being the one that came to my mind the quickest, as I doubt that Ramirez's starpower is anywhere near where Arum tells the press that it is)

Cinco De mayo is actually celebrating the battle of Puebla. This is where the Mexicans defeated the French. Big Holiday. Plus a great fight weekend. The notion that Floyd owns those dates is crazy. Most hispanos don't like Mayweather or his safety first style.

Would be nice to start pushing Mexican stars on that date. Canelo, Ramirez, and Mexican American Stars as well.

Yep agree with you on that one! Man Canelo and GGG could have Fought 2 x's if the fight were good and competitive September 17th, 2016 and May 6th , 2017, but no Oscar and his protege want it to Marinate! Please. Could have carried boxing through the Floyd/Pac era into a new one.

Honestly I think Ramirez can steal it from him, I dont see Canelo keeping it fighting anyone other than Floyd or GGG. As a fan I would rather watch Ramirez unify with a decent undercard than Canelo vs Lemeiux. And if things go as I hope they do, if Vargas beats Brook, we may see PBC and TR's first ppv together next May with Garcia vs Vargas...
