  • Comments Thread For: Keith Thurman: We Don't Yet Know If Kell Brook is 'Really Special'

NEW YORK Keith Thurman's performance against Shawn Porter naturally will be compared to how Kell Brook beat Porter. That's fine by Thurman, who would like to box Brook while trying to become the sport's undisputed welterweight champion. Brook's majority-decision victory over Porter in August 2014 impressed Thurman, but the undefeated WBA welterweight title-holder believes Brook still has plenty to prove before the unbeaten British champion is considered the top 147-pound performer in boxing.

Thurman and Brook always have good things to say about eachother, there's a lot of mutual respect. This is gonna be a massive collision at 147 if Thurman gets past Porter.

If Thurman beats Porter, I'd like to see him unify with Danny, who I think he would comfortably beat

After Brook massacres Vargas, I'd like Brook vs Bradley at the end of the year, I think Brook takes that one and sets up a massive unification with Thurman for all 4 belts

Hmmm...The same could be said for Thurman, who has he fought?
      -Guerrero
      -Collazo
-Karate...err Karass can't remember his name...

I think Brooks should be ranked higher than Thurman for the simple reason that he beat Porter. Here is My Welterwgt ranking:

      -Brooks
      -Thurman
      -Bradley
      -Garcia
      -Vargas
      -Porter
      -Spence
      -Ponomarev
      -Khan
      -Peterson

So many good fights to be had at 147. It starts with Thurman-Porter, then Brook/Vargas hopefully. Maybe Khan/Garcia (if Mayweather doesn't come back that is), Bradley is still kicking about and Spence will be mandatory for the IBF soon.

        Exciting times

I see both of you guys have Spence in the top 10, in my opinion I think he may be the fastest rising star in the bunch. I probably dont keep up everything like you guys do , but what do you think?

              1. Brook
              2. Thurman
              3. Spence
              4. Porter
              5. Bradley
              6. Vasquez
              7. Danny
              8. Khan
              9. Ponomarev
              10. Vargas

I think Spence is probably the top guy at 147 but can't put him at #1 yet, he's not done anywhere near enough

All the above lists make sense apart from Peterson having beaten Khan should be ranked above him.......and why Khan is no.1 WBC is completely beyond me.....any idea's?

He beat Chris Algeri a former champ who gave Amir Khan a tough fight so Errol Spence earned his place in the top 10. Still I believe some people over rate him I can't see him beating Brook or Thurman but he can beat any other fighter @ 147

Amir Khan was put #1 after he beat Alexander in 12-13-14 since he hasn't lost any fight @ WW ever since he is still the mandatory for Danny Garcia's WBC
