You know, its funny you mention the story of the boy that cried wolf because it really mirrors this situation. Except Canelo is the boy and Golovkin the wolf.

It starts off with the boy claiming there is a wolf, or in this case, claiming he is a wolf. After Cotto fight, he says, Ill fight anyone right now. The townspeople (WBC) believed the boy and came to help by offering a voluntary defense.

The boy cries wolf again, even inviting the wolf into the ring claiming we dont F around (from behind the police). Once again, the townspeople come to help, and give the boy 2 weeks to negotiate with the wolf.

But finally, the boy's time is up, and he is face to face with the real wolf. He cries and he cries but no one comes to help. His only hope to avoid being eaten by the wolf is to throw his heavy belt and run fast as he can away from the Big Bad Wolf
