  • Amir Khan "Brook fight will never happen" & Rightfully so!

    1) Because of Eddie Hearn
    2) Khan says that he offered Brook the fight, and that Brook's team didn't seem to want it.

Did Mayweather send Ortiz the contract, or did Ortiz send Mayweather the contract when Ortiz was the WBC Welterweight Champion? Mayweather did

Did Cotto send Martinez the contract, or did Martinez send Cotto the contract, when Martinez was the WBC Middleweight Champion? Cotto did

Khan is a much bigger name to Brook, then the difference in popularity between Cotto and Martinez. Yet Martinez accepted a 19/81 split, with Cotto getting 81% of the split!

Before Khan signed the contract with Canelo, he said to Hearn, own up to your £10 Million pound guarantee to fight Brook, and Hearn said that he said $10 Million dollars. Khan rightfully said no, and then offered a 65/35 split to Team Brook, and Brook & Hearn said no. Khan then signed the contract for Canelo.

Brook is a solid fighter, but he is virtually unknown in the UK. He likes to sit at home all day, does **** all to promote a potential fight. Why not antagonise Khan ringside at the Haye fight?

If he really wanted to fight Khan, and believed that he could win, he would accept the 65/35 split, because if he beats Khan in a grudge match with 80,000 fans at Wembley and a 1 Million PPV buys (out of a population of 65 Million), Brook will become a household name, and will be able to have multiple paydays for the rest of his career.

You yanks out there have been mislead on how big Kell Brook is in the UK. He has a pocket of fans in Sheffield, and then anyone who doesn't like Khan, is a Brook fan.

More people stayed up till 3am to see Amir Khan fight Carlos Molina after getting KTFO against Garcia, then those who stayed up to watch Brook fight for a World Title against Shawn Porter.

Still making stuff up to make Khan sound good, cool.

He's just been knocked out for a 3rd time, better fights to be made for Brook.

Khan never wanted to fight Brook simply because he can cling on to the illusion that he's the best around that weight class in the UK. If he fights and lose, his reputation takes a huge dent. He know that fight can get made almost anytime he wants it, so he can look for other paydays first because IF he lost to Brook, his stock would fall even further. I understand it though, it's good business. It could be the difference between 2 or 3 good paydays instead of 1.

By the way, Khan isn't exactly that big in the UK either now, this isn't 2008 anymore. His last fight in the UK didn't sell out and the likes of Sky don't really have much interest in his fights and don't air them anymore.

So although Brook's popularity might be overstated sometimes, Khan's star has definitely faded anyway. Khan might be a bigger name but he's not exactly hot property these days.

I believe Khan will try the Garcia rematch route now. If he comes to a dead end and there's no big paydays on the horizon, the Brook fight will get made next summer. Khan doesn't generate big money himself anymore, he needs a dance partner.

I like Amir but lets not let any bias delude us here. The Canelo knockout wasn't without consequence. Khan lost stock in that fight because he was willing to be knocked out for a payday. That isn't the action of a high level performer.

Maybe we differ on perspective because I'm a fan of the sport first and foremost. Khan may have legitimate gripes (or not) with Brook and his team but the stance of refusing to fight his biggest rival in a fight that would be huge for British boxing is not justifiable by any measure.

Not accepting a 35/65 split is unjustifiable, when your career highest purse is £400k.

Being the B Side, and calling the shots, righting out the contract is injustifiable.

The only thing that is preventing this fight from happening is that Eddie Hearn wants a nice slice of the pie for himself. He has been investing in Brook for a long time, and wants to make his money back.

You see Eddie Hearn wants to be the lead promoter, so he can take his cut of the revenue, before the purse split, which is why there isn't enough money to satisfy the Khan and Brook.

This is the same thing that was happening with Mayweather vs Pacquiao. Arum wanted the promoters to be paid before the fighters, as a cost on the balance sheet. Mayweather was his own promoter, and in reality would be losing money on such a deal. In the end, they settled on a 60/40 split, with Arums cut being taken out of Pacquiao's purse.

Khan hardly made it easy for canelo, it was just too big a challenge to overcome, but he gave it his best shot.

There's a long history with brook being a constant irritant to Khan, the Hearn camp won't tell you this.

Just remember... Calling out your biggest domestic rival is one thing, but basing your whole career on one fight from atleast 5 years is another and imo that deserves no respect, it's literally a career strategy to just get one fight.

I have seen interviews from Brook from 3 or 4 years back where he literally says he doesn't want the money, just the fight...then when it came to negotiate he wouldn't accept a career high pay day, Hearn is running a scam with brooks career.

Finally brooks disrespect when khan was knocked out with the tweet was the final straw, no need for Khan to give him a payday.

Who cares anymore? Khan-Brook is a mismatch.

It seems that Khan only has in front of him a tune-up and a title fight, at most. Then retirement.

Therefore it's easy for him to rule out a Brook fight.

Brook beats Vargas, Khan beats Garcia

In this scenario the fight becomes unavoidable. Would sell out Wembley easily and become the biggest money fight for everyone involved

But hasn't Boxtime/Flatline told you? Boxing and great fights don't matter. Kell Brook doesn't have enough in his bank account to fight Khan apparently.
