    Golovkin's best win: Martin Murray

Martin Murray is Golovkin's best win and he is actually an above average win. While his record looks suspect, at 33-3-1, it suddenly turns out to be a very good record when you analyze it closer.

    - He got his 1 draw against Sturm, but he clearly won that fight. It was in Sturm's home country.
    - He got 1 of his 3 losses against Martinez, but he clearly won that fight. It was in Martinez's home country.
    - He got 1 of his 3 losses against Abraham, but that fight could very well have been called a draw, as it was very close. It was in Abraham's home country.
    - He got 1 of his 3 losses against Golovkin, but he lasted 11 rounds and he hit Golovkin more than Golovkin had ever been hit before.

And before people mention Lemieux, then please think.

Murray's a good fighter. IMO, it is ggg's best win. No shame in having that name under your belt

Yeah, he is Golovkin's best win, then followed by Lemieux.

I can't wait for his fight against Groves. I actually feel that Murray has a very good chance.

There were more people who thought Sturm won than people who thought Murray won, but a draw is fair enough. He did not very clearly win the fight

Was not a clear win either. His low effort in the half and championship rounds made his two kds less of a killing blow. No problem if you think he won. The version of Martinez he fought makes his performance less impressive though.

          - He got 1 of his 3 losses against Abraham, but that fight could very well have been called a draw, as it was very close. It was in Abraham's home country.
Again, the trend of Murray falling short continues. And this was against a version of Abraham that went on to get shut out by Gilberto Ramirez in his next fight.

Murray also went on to get a fortunate decision against Sergey Khomitsky after the Martinez fight. Golovkin beat a prime Khomitsky though, so Khomitsky is his best win.

            Here's a question.

How likely is it that Murray or Lemieux wind up in Canastota?

And THAT right there is the point...

GGG has 3 wins that are probably on par with one another and that's Macklin, Murray and Lemeuix. Geale can get a shout in too.

Both Mack and Murray could easily have had the WBA belt if decisions against Sturm had gone the other way. But you're kidding yourself if you think Murray beat Martinez, even Murray doesn't believe that.

In fact, if Canelo had managed to beat Murray at 160, it probably would have been Canelos best win too.

Do you know what the word "clearly" means?

Murray is a good fighter. With different judges and circumstances he could quite easily have wins over Martinez and Sturm and maybe even Abraham on his record which would be good going.

He's not elite or anything but he's a good world level fighter that has gone close with some good level fighters. Nobody has bullied him like GGG did.

That sums it up pretty well. Do you agree that he is Golovkin's best win?
