How do you know they didn't? We'll find out what was offered soon enough if negotiations end without the fight being made.

We would have heard already before Canelo surrendered his belt and became a laughing stock. Mannix said they didn't even bother meeting face to face with Loeffler

No we wouldn't have, because they are still in negotiations. You think promoters always meet face to face to negotiate fights?

No but since they're both in La, you'd think they'd meet face to face for the biggest fight in boxing, before having to forfeit the belt and lose tons of respect

Technicalities? Geale and Canelo vacated instead of fighting him. You keep bringing up the the bum of the month club. But who should he fight in his division if they don't want to fight him. I say again in his division. Lara, Trout, Charles, De Geale, Bute, Riemerez are all not in the Middleweight division. Who does he fight then? BJS and Jacobs are next and I have a feeling one of them vacates.

If they get the fight made Canelo will have lost nothing, he will have probably gained a better purse split and maybe even a few lbs on the scale.

Simple. He goes up in weight. That was the original point of this post. Instead of going up in weight and fighting good fighters and being in fights the fans want, he's more interested in collecting belts from technicalities. 30 years from now no one is going to say "man, remember the good old days when Golovkin fought Rubio and then two years later was elevated from interim to full champion?". No. It's lame. He needs to go up in weight and fight some fighters who we've heard of before and are a challenge instead of bum of the month. K2D2 promotions is trash.

Breaking the middleweight defense record means nothing when you've fought no one in the top ten. It's similar to Cuenca being 48-0. Yeah but the opponents were horrible.
He was handed the WBA Super belt? That's just ignorance that plagues these forums. He was promoted to the WBA Super because Daniel Geale didn't fight him. The winner of Geale/Sturm fight was supposed to face the winner of Golovkin/Proksa, but Geale ducked him. Golovkin eventually DID face and demolish Geale, who was rated top 10.

Then he beat Lemieux for the IBF belt, who rightfully won it fair and square from N'Dam. Lemieux was also ranked top 10. The IBF was stripped from Jermain Taylor due to legal/mental issues.

The WBC belt he was awarded because obviously Canelo vacated/ducked Golovkin.

So he was handed 2 vacant titles and beat someone that beat a bum for a vacant title.

Yes he was handed the WBA title. He beat whatever a nilson tapia is to "earn" it. Also Daniel geale was not top ten, even at that time. Maybe by WBA but not by sane people. Also Golovkin wasn't "super" champion. That bs title is given when the WBA belt is unified with another organization which isn't what happened.
