Are you seriously suggesting the MW Champion of the World and lineal MW champion, who just gave up his belt, refusing to fight his mandatory challenger is intimidating Golovkin? Canelo is so terrified of Golovkin, but more accurately the loss he represents at 160 that he's willing to face abject humiliation from his followers and nation.

GGG just has to unify to become the new lineal champ. It's what Hopkins did. Nobody will consider Canelo the lineal champ after this duck, he will become a footnote in MW lineal title holding history, a bizzare aberration where a man who fought at 155 and defended his title only against a glass-chinned welterweight was, for a short period, the MW champion.

        Can you ****ing believe that?

Canelo can try to negotiate a fight at 155, but Golovkin can just continue on insisting on 160, and it will just look like Canelo talked the talk, ducked, and could never follow through. He would forever be considered a coward, yellow Canelo.

Boxing fans turning on Canelo fast after this debacle. In boxing, you CANNOT duck your mandatory like this and not lose all cred with the fans.

Hopefully Golovkin only agrees to as low as 158.

His fans will find a way to justify this.

In Kazhakstan we get awarded titles on technicalities and end up retiring having beat no one of note. Lemieux and Murray being decent fringe top ten.
