I am not saying treat Canelo the same as everyone, but if he isn't fighting no one cares about him.
Canelo took the wrong approach to GGG. His team should have been upfront and said he wants 1-2 fights at 160 and next year he would fight GGG. All the big talk after the last 2 fights has only fueled the fire of us fans wanting to see the fight. Now we look at Canelo like he's ducking when in honesty the kid has fought guys he really didn't have to fight in Trout and Lara and even Floyd when he was so young. I think the fight happens next year but he looks really bad right now.

He's done everything asked of him. Has played the smiling good guy role. Hasn't trashed their star fighter, and what does he end up with? A vacated belt and missed out on the biggest payday of his career.

Or he could go to PBC/Showtime. Networks who are committed to investing in boxing. That would make the Jacobs fight easier to make. Eubank just signed with Matchroom again and Haymon and Hearn have a good working relationship. When he decides to move up he can fight Jack or DeGale. There are a lot more options for him on the other side. He can't stay on HBO fighting the Wade's and Monroe's of the world. And if the WBA does call for that fight against Jacobs that fight is going to purse bid. Jacobs is a PBC asset just like GGG is an HBO asset. It would be foolish to think Haymon should let Jacobs fight on HBO just like it'll be foolish to think HBO will allow GGG to fight on PBC. If they lose that purse bid and GGG has to drop the belt.

      What do you think?
Cotto and Canelo fights not happening has nothing to do with networks. They ran away in fear of him. 2+2 is 4.

But the HBO can force Ward to fight Kovalev? They've always, and still are, forcing fights by dictating which fights they will or won't buy. Arum was just complaining about it last year!!!

“HBO sued Arum six times over (contractual challenges),” he said. And during those periods, the executive learned, he had to keep focusing on trying to buy the best fights.

He's getting $1m+ per fight on boxing's #1 channel, endorsements are raining in, there is really no incentive to move.

So keep getting $1+ mil to fight the Wade's and Monroe's of the world instead of going to a network that's willing to offer BJS more than a million dollars so he can unify? You're making zero sense as always

Two fights ago he got $2m to fight David Lemieux.

Golovkin has the WBC, WBA, IBF and IBO titles, he has beaten a host of top 10 MWs, he has multiple endorsements and fights on the #1 channel with the highest ratings.

Is going to Showtime to fight Danny Jacobs and Andy Lee really going to improve his standing?

Saunders will come to him or vacate, in which case GGG will likely fight Khurtsidze.

                GGG had a simple formula
Outstanding fighting skills + Outstanding money = Is there anyone to pay me at one stop????

He can't get the Canelo fight on HBO. They're only offering BJS $1mil for the fight and BJS ain't taking that. So what does HBO have to offer him? Ramirez? Go to Showtime and he can fight Jacobs. They'll offer enough money to fight BJS to unify. Sanchez just said yesterday that they're looking to move up after they unify. Then he can fight Jack/Bute/or DeGale.

Tell me what better options he has at HBO?

Ward wasn't forced to do anything. HBO was tired of offering him big money for fights that will not be in any way profitable. Paul Smith isn't a credible opponent and Ward choosing to fight fighters who are rejected by the commission because its a mismatch shows that they needed a guarantee he would fight a top dog.

Ward has one of the best resume's, but his track record in the last few years wasn't promising, so i doubt HBO wanted to spend their already dwindling budget on Ward if nothing meaningless was coming out of it.

You say that like Jacobs is a much better fight than Ramirez. Jacobs is not even a full champion.

I expect Canelo to fight Golovkin to be honest. I think it happens this year.
