Eh, there's a guy called Hopkins who dominated that very division.

Sugar Ray Robinson and Ricardo Lopez come to mind, but what do I know. Abel's gotta be right. Or perhaps, Abel is a complete dumb **** that never heard of Sugar Ray's run at welterweight or Ricardo's 21 straight title defenses.
At least when Sugar Ray fought Jimmy Doyle caliber boxers, he killed them. Can't say the same for GGG.Comment

People will claim since he hasn't faced the top fighters, he's not...
But in boxing, when top fighters in your division just flat out refuse to face you, then what more can you do but assume this fighter knows he can't beat you. If the entire MW division is u willing to stand in ggg's way, then he is dominating them--physical when he can, mentally when they won't face him.
Until Canelo signs the contract, he's been beaten by GGG. There are no more excuses, he got his voluntary. GGG mentally beaten him, and could snatch his balls, I mean belt and hang it up for the world to see.
Until Jacobs speaks up and grows some balls, then he's mentally beaten by GGG.
Until Suanders steps up, GGG has already mentally beaten him.Comment

Sanchez is Supposed to Rep his Fighter, to the Max
Trainers say things all the time, because the way boxing is, these guys are basically walking PR for fighters. This works both ways. For GGG fans, the hypes them up. For the haters, it makes them want to see him lose.
And maybe it motivates the top fighters to prove him wrong--Canelo, Jacobs, Quillin, Suanders.
Maybe it motivates the 154ers to come up. People say 154 is stacked. Pfft. Smith is champion. The top 154era are all MW sized, coming in at a weight same as GGG. And they're not fighting each other--so if it's stacked, what's the point if they all hide. So maybe this gets them to challenge GGG at 160, not just talk about it (Lara) or aim for three years when GGG is 37 (Andrade).
Hunter said Ward would be heavyweight champion by age 30. Are you haters up on his ass claiming Ward deserves criticism for the lack of a heavyweight resume. As far as I know Ward hasn't even become LHW champ, or Cruiserweight. It's unlikely he'll ever be HW champ.Comment

Since coming to HBO, GGG has fought and beaten more top tens than anyone else.Last edited by Progrssive_Jedi; 05-17-2016, 03:35 AM.Comment

You can't force people to fight. So now this is all we have. Before the Diva and new age thing, fighters fought. Legacies were built that way. Those days seem to be gone, and if it stays this way, many fighters will be judged by who wouldn't fight them,
Besides, many fighters are well known who didn't get big fights. Think black murderers row. They had to fight each other.
Boxing history is full of great fighters who were too good to land top fights.Comment

Yea there will. Besides, he's getting too big to not eventually land bigger fights.

As far as fighters fighting to build legacies, that hasn't gone anywhere. Why do you think we have fighters like Pac, JMM, and Cotto?
What boxing does have now is new standards which include multiple division championship wins, the amount of champions a fighter has beaten, and most importantly a smart business team. GGG seems to be out of the loop on these new modern concepts.Comment
