Comments Thread For: Povetkin, Ryabinsky Vow To Announce New Wilder Fight Date
MOSCOW - Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin denied taking meldonium Monday after a failed doping test caused his fight against WBC champion Deontay Wilder to be postponed. [Click Here To Read More]
Wada said in its briefing document that doping cases should be pursued in the case of athletes who admit having taken meldonium on or after 1 January, in cases where the concentration of the drug is above 15 micrograms per millilitre, or where the concentration is between 1 and 15 millilitres and the test was after 1 March.
The organisation said prosecution of meldonium cases could be “stayed” and provisional suspensions lifted if the concentration of the drug in the system was between 1 and 15 micrograms per millilitre and the test was carried out before 1st March, or if the level is below 1 microgram per millilitre and the doping control was conducted after 1st March.
Povetkin is considered clean an still the mandatory under WADA guidelines.
Wilder is not allowed to cancel this fight just because VADA recommended retesting.
There was no dirty result, just one "su****ious" sample that warranted retesting.

Povetkin was clean 3 times, and then dirty on the 4th. Seems like either VADA testing is not as good as people think, or Povetkin took the PED after the 3rd test (which means he should be suspended).

Or maybe, Povetkin didn't feel quite right without the PEDs and took a chance. Maybe thinking he wouldn't be tested again. Or, used a masking agent that didn't work

I get the feeling that he took the PED after the third test in April, so that should negate all the "it's still in my system from when it was legal" bull****!!

That's exactly what he did. Ita crystal clear. I don't even understand people trying to defend it. Its different from the Floyd-Manny thing in that Manny simply didn't wanna do extensive testing, which is suspect. But, he had a leg to stand on in that Floyd, at the time, was asking thinga above and beyond the commission's policies. Povetkin flatout got busted cheating. And to make it worse, he got caught cheating right in the middle of camp. Unless his B sample comes back negative, Wilder has the right to cancel the fight. Povetkin should also be suspended and stripped of his mandatory poaition.
Would you defend a fighter you hate? He passed 3 test. Which one was within the same month of his failed test. He probably thought that he had some time before the next test and used it. Drugs are addictive. For instance I take adderal. When I'm off of it I don't feel the same or as productive. That could have been how Povetkin felt and just needed that boost of confidence. Plus Russia has been in a big PED scandal for Olympics and other athletes. In not buying the bull****. Boxing is dangerous and you just can't afford to play around with a PED user. You see what happen when PAC got off! No more TKO's
