As much of a scumbag as he is, he might be the greatest boxing promoter ever. He had De La Hoya, Mayweather and Pacquiao. He built Pacquiao into a huge name just by having him fight people who had just been beat. Plus he managed to completely manipulate the boxing media for years and has probably made 10-20 times more money from Manny's fights than Manny himself has made. He is a complete crook but he's a genius at what he does and is funny as hell.
He damaged boxing a lot but a promoter's job is to make money a ton of money while advancing your own fighters and there's no doubt Bob did a great job of that.Comment

That's exactly the reason. The Bobfather brought him to the bright lights and helped him do things he never would've thought were possible. This is why he never questions anything Bob does and will never leave him until the day he retires. He's loyal to Bob. But Bob has no loyalty to anyone which is very smart.
What's interesting is now Bob has realised Manny is basically done and is now using him to build his next guys like Jeff Horn. He went from saying Manny is the greatest he had ever seen to defending the Horn decision and saying he just doesn't have the hunger anymore. He drove and rode the wave when it was hot then got the hell off it as soon as it cooled down. If that's not a great promoter I don't know what is. He's basically disowned Manny at this point in his career.
Now it's all about Lomachenko who's "The best since Ali".
Once he loses it'll be "Crawford is 10x better than Mayweather, he might even be better than Sugar Ray Robinson". Calling it right now this is going to happen.
