but from what I read and understand, the substance was legal last year (5 months ago) and only added to the banned list this year, and that substance can stay in your system for a year after the last time you took it and they only found trace elements that goes with his story that he took it last year when it was legal.

So i think theirs a grey area their.

Povetkin slipped up and had a below-threshold detection for one of the most recently banned, mild substances out there.

The real slip up was letting Wilder slip away. I can imagine DiBella celebrating when he found out.

If 70 nanograms is the correct amount it probably just didn't show up in previous tests. It's below the lowest threshold in WADA testing.

Do you truly believe that 3 blood samples tested completely clean, and the 4th one that came over 2 weeks later tested dirty by mistake? Are you assuming that they only test blood samples once or something?

The guy cheated. If it had been in his system from the year prior, then all of his blood samples would have come up dirty, even if the amount was something minuscule. It would actually make MORE sense for the later sample to come back cleaner than the first 3, because he would have had an extra 2+ weeks to cycle more of it out of his system. You can't fight science, or basic common sense. Again, it's unfortunate, but Povetkin chose to cheat.

Povetkin tested clean several times. Sounds like he started microdosing sometime after that and that's what showed up in this last test, where he came up dirty.

He should be banned for at least a year.

Firstly, I meant urine samples, not blood. Want to get that out there before anyone tries to be a smartass lol.

Secondly, VADA tests samples more than once, and they do it for the very reason you mentioned (false positives). There's no benefit of the doubt to be given here. He tested clean 3 times and then tested dirty over 2 weeks later. If trace amounts showed up in that sample, they would have shown up in all samples.
