Mikey Garcia, if all logical steps are taken, is going to be built up in Southern California, before likely heading to Vegas when the casino fee fights start to come up. The rest of the team is already set (Big G as Pops, Robert as trainer/'manager', Lawyer to makes sure that the deals are all on the up-and-up).
If Mikey Garcia can swing a deal with Haymon, he locks in the TV exposure, Tom Brown handles the California shows, and he plugs along; a direct Haymon deal not getting done, Mikey still has this relationship with Floyd Mayweather to build on (Floyd leveraging his relationships with Showtime/CBS and Haymon to lock in opportunities).
The pause, rightfully so imo, likely comes with concerns about getting fights at 140 (though Mikey has said that he wants to try to get a belt at 135, he's likely to campaign at 140); Crawford(WBO), Postol(WBC), and Troyanovsky(IBF; likely to hold the belt hostage in Russia for a while, though mandatory challenge doesn't make it impossible) are all out of Haymon/Mayweather's reach.
The cupboard's not bare though; Figueroa Jr, Provodnikov, Granados, Obara, Castillo, and Burns are all 140lb fighters (rated in BoxRec's top 20 at the weight) that are available with Haymon/Mayweather, and the WBA is on the verge of looking for a new champion.
wouldn't lock anything down until he was sure that he couldn't comfortably fight at 135, though; look forward to seeing Mikey on one of the California PBC cards come August/September
